  • Advanced knowledge of RDBMS management tools including MS SQL Server Management Studio.
  • Advanced knowledge of installing, performance tuning, maintaining, securing and administering a MS SQL Server database environment.
  • Advanced knowledge of MS SQL Server backup and recovery design and implementation.
  • Intermediate knowledge in installing, performance tuning, maintaining, securing and administering an MS Integration Services (SSIS) environment.
  • Intermediate knowledge of security, authorization and authentication in Microsoft Active Directory
  • Intermediate knowledge of or skill in developing on a SQL Server platform using Transact SQL (T-SQL) including stored procedures, query plans, functions, views, indexes and triggers.
  • Intermediate knowledge of or skill in database modeling, data conversion and ETL tools such as SSIS
  • Basic knowledge of networking and firewall concepts
  • Basic knowledge of Microsoft Windows Server administration
  • Basic knowledge of SAN/NAS Storage management and concepts
  • Basic knowledge of virtualization technology using MS Windows Hyper-V or VMWare
  • Basic knowledge of Administrative Scripting (C#, WMI, PowerShell, Rs Utility, MS Build)
  • Basic knowledge of MS Windows Server or high availability technologies, Application Development, architectures, languages, and / or tools.
  • Basic knowledge of Agile/Scrum development framework
  • Basic understanding of developing and managing databases in a cloud computing environment.



  • Applies expert-level knowledge of database architecture and technical standards for large-scale databases (SQL Server, Oracle, DB2), GIS and data warehousing.
  • Maintains integrity and security of databases.
  • Troubleshoots data-tier problems and provides technical assistance to developers and database users.
  • Provides project management and works with other departments or outside agencies to integrate data from multiple database platforms and data providers.
  • Coordinates and performs database software installations, upgrades and patches.
  • Designs, implement and schedules physical and logical database backups.
  • Develops database scripts and triggers.
  • Plans for and performs database restoration and recovery.
  • Migrates data between database environments (development, test and production).
  • Monitors and adjusts space utilization.
  • Monitor and optimize database performance.
  • Problem-solves and builds consensus with all levels of management, customers and vendors to negotiate project priorities and outcomes.
  • Formulates scope and objectives for database projects and defines outcomes.
  • Uses judgment, creativity and sound technical knowledge to develop and recommend solutions.
