As a Staff Data Engineer in our supportive team culture, you will be responsible for crafting and advancing effective and efficient solutions to achieve a variety of data transformation and processing goals including data lakes, pipelines, ingestion APIs, data modeling/transfer, microservices and service-oriented architecture.  Your creativity and initiative to autonomously deliver solutions from idea to implementation will propel our exciting organization into the future.

What You’ll Do

  • Build and monitor automation for data in motion and data at rest, transforming a variety of raw customer data into consistent, organized data stores utilizing leading edge methods and technologies.
  • Challenge yourself to develop and advance algorithms to maximize efficiency and automation to provide scalability for our rapidly expanding enterprise.
  • Design, develop and implement effective and scalable data ingestion APIs, providing flexibility for a variety of customer environments.
  • Collaborate with other engineers on research, initiatives and projects, clearly communicating progress, blockers and FUD (fear, uncertainty and doubt).
  • Actively contribute your talents and creativity in our self-directed, cross-domain Agile pods.
  • As a Staff level Data Engineer, we will look to you to:
    • Drive innovation and new concepts to promote state of the art data engineering.
    • Partner with team members to plan and implement large solutions.
    • Mentor team members, identify appropriate leaders and help lead complex mentorship challenges.
    • Drive best practices and represent team needs in standards discussions.

  • Python development proficiency to accurately transform and ingest large data structures.
  • SQL expertise to provide strong technical data analysis to help support and troubleshoot data transformations and ingestion.
  • Airflow and Linux shell scripting experience to organize and control data processing pipelines.
  • Significant experience implementing and building solutions with complex data structures, data algorithms and data lakes.
  • Thorough understanding of Git version control.
  • GitLab pipeline experience is advantageous.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.  Must be able to clearly articulate concepts and details involved in processing critical customer data.
  • Ability to adapt in a fast-moving and changing environment as our team and our product grows.
  • Experience working in an Agile environment utilizing tools such as Jira and Confluence.
  • Partnering with Data Science to collaborate on solutions for AI and ML.
  • Working knowledge of technologies such as Docker, AWS and S3 is very desirable.
  • Familiarity with dbt, Hadoop, Snowflake, Kubernetes, Kafka, Java and Redshift is a bonus.
  • Staff level candidates demonstrate:
