Job Description

Job Title: Structural Engineer

Location: Salt Lake City, UT

Duration: Direct hire, permanent

Salary: $90-120KYR DOE

Job responsibilities:
Ensures technical expertise in projects by providing expert judgement and analysis for the design, development, specification and implementation of products, equipment and systems to meet client needs.
Recommends improvements in development, design and engineering to the products, systems and/or procedures.
The position is expected to work on a few (up to 3 - 4) projects in parallel, depending on the status of the projects.
Works with minimal to no supervision with extensive collaboration between teams to keep project deliverables on time and meet project DIFOT expectations.
Responsible for structural objectives of project through all stages of a project / from basic to detail design
Ensure structural designs provide low cost sourcing, ease of installation, reduced manufacturing costs and meet regional needs.
Reviews and approves structural design drawings to determine information meets projects expectations.
Reviews customer specifications and verify final design meets expectations.
Develop design standards /guides, guide specifications, and design control procedures.
Analyse structural design problems requiring the development of new or improved techniques or procedures in project.
Standardization of software tools used in project.
Coordination of efforts though contributing disciplines as needed to ensure structural requirements are communicated through project execution.
Travels to job sites and regional offices as required in support of equipment and/or systems problems, installations and sales efforts.
Ensure project design meets local building, structural codes and specifications.
Ensure a review of project documents by an engineer licensed in the jurisdiction the project is performed.

Job requirements:
BSc or equivalent 4-year Degree in Civil/Structural Engineering or related engineering discipline is essential. Master's degree preferred.
5-10 years engineering project related experience.
Registered Professional Engineer with an NCEES Counsel Record. Ability to register in other states required. Ability to register in other countries may be required.
Experience with detail design of structural components.
Work with other disciplines to obtain static and dynamic loading conditions and conduct structural analysis.
Good working knowledge of standard steel fabrication and plant layout.
Proficient with engineering design tools (AutoCAD, Tekla, STAAD, SolidWorks)
Proficient in engineering fundamentals
Proficient in Microsoft Office
Good verbal and written communication skills
Strong analytical, conceptual and organizational skills
Proficient in change management and conflict resolution
