Background information:

Innovative Defense Technologies (IDT), provider of automated software testing, data analysis, and cybersecurity solutions for complex, mission-critical systems in the US Department of Defense (DOD), is seeking a Software or Systems Engineer to be based in our Mt. Laurel, NJ and Arlington, VA offices.

Overview:

IDT is currently accepting applications for an Engineer role requiring 3+ years of experience for a position in support of its innovative automated solutions in the Surface and Air Warfare Solutions business area based out of Mount Laurel, NJ and Arlington, VA.

Responsibilities Include:

  • Work with minimal supervision to implement best-in-class solutions
  • Working with the customer to drive complex technical issues/challenges to closure
  • Participate and provide feedback in design reviews & code reviews
  • DoD Air and Surface Warfare related systems/software design, development, and analysis
  • Interface with customers for technical and programmatic requirements
  • Ability to travel up to 25%

Minimum Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor s Degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Systems Engineering, Software Engineering, Physics, or Math
  • 3-15 years of related experience is required

Required skills:

  • Experience with software testing, test automation, and test tools, or experience with systems engineering, system integration, and verification and validation testing
  • Ability to quickly learn new applications and tools
  • Demonstrated experience in a lab environment performing tasking
  • Experience with DOORS (Requirement Management), MATLAB, UNIX/Linux, Java, JavaScript, Python, C++ and/or database design
  • Ability to document code, requirements, and/or specifications
  • Ability to perform many concurrent assignments and determine the need for changing priorities
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office suite, e.g. Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.
  • Experience working in large, complex defense systems (e.g., Aegis)

Preferred skills:

  • Experience with Software development, Test Automation or Integration and Test (I&T) of a tactical defense system
  • Understanding of Agile development methodologies
  • Develop system analysis and test software for IDT s ATRT tool suite (Analysis Manager, Test Manager)
  • Develop and implement automated testing strategies using automated testing solutions
  • Automate software system operations by understanding customer and program requirements
  • Design, build and execute end-to-end and regression automation tests for tactical defense systems
  • Generate status reports for test results and associated issues
  • Support and enhance the existing testing process by suggesting continuous improvement initiatives
  • Evaluate and analyze automation metrics
  • Work closely with software developers to ensure top-notch software quality, reliability and functionality using highly effective test strategies
  • Collect metrics required to calculate efficiencies and return on investment (ROI) attributable to test automation
  • Understanding of test automation design patterns, and software testing principles and methodologies
  • Proficiency with source code control systems (i.e. GIT, SVN) and bug tracking systems (i.e. Jira, Bugzilla)
  • Proficiency in a Linux operating environment
  • Determine operational feasibility by evaluating analysis, problem definition, requirements, solution development, and proposed solutions
  • Responsible for the software design, quality, and performance meeting requirements
  • Radar domain knowledge to include Radar Cross Section (RCS), Signal Processing, Signal to Noise Ratio (SNR), SPY-1 and or SPY-6
  • Experience with tactical applications (Aegis, NAVSEA, CEC, Link16, BMD, Radars, SLQ-32, SPY6) is highly desirable
  • Demonstrated knowledge of other related disciplines (e.g. Software Engineering, Hardware Engineering, Configuration Management, Mission Assurance)
  • Apply advanced software technologies and principles to develop innovative solutions for in-service and next generation radar systems
  • Design, develop, and implement radar systems
  • Experience performing formal testing, performing integration, following processes, developing test methodologies and developing test and analysis tools
  • Integrate software components into a complex software Dev environment
  • Implement documented design including coding and testing while adhering to coding standards
  • Experience with distributed systems, algorithms, and software design patterns
  • Hands-on experience with Java/J2EE and object-oriented programming
  • Familiarity with SQL and relational (MS-SQL, Oracle, Postgres, etc.) databases
  • Proficiency working with different SW development tools (Jenkins, Maven, Gradle, and Nexus, etc.)
  • Understanding of Model Based System Engineering (MBSE)
  • Experience in testing software and test automation
  • Hands-on experience in deploying and maintaining applications in a mission critical operational environment
  • Experience with software testing, configuration management, and test automation
  • Experience using architecture framework like DoDAF/UPDM/UAF
  • Develop and test Java application operating in real-time environment
  • Develop software interface to communicate across Network protocols including TCP and UDP (DDS, etc.)
  • Develop automated software analysis solutions for Aegis test events
  • Lead a team of Software Developers to Develop and implement Integration Strategy to establish system of systems environment
  • Oversee relevant aspects of project lifecycle from initial kickoff through requirements analysis, design, testing and implementation phases for projects
  • Contribute to Systems Integration practice
  • Assist with the integration of new applications as they are added to the tactical environment
  • Ability to lead the logical systematic conversion of program requirements into solution that acknowledge technical and cost constraints
  • Experience analyzing Aegis Weapon System data
  • Ability to read and interpret technical documentation including sequence of operations, technical product literature, programming manuals, specifications and A|E drawings
  • Understand the phases of the Systems Development Life Cycle (SDLC) or Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC)
  • Ability to translate requirements into a series of logical, testable steps
  • System Modeling Language (SysML) modeling using Rhapsody and/or MagicDraw/Cameo
  • Ballistic Missile Defense System (BMDS) and/or Aegis BMD requirements development, integration, test, and analysis experience
