The University of Connecticut, Information Technology Services (ITS) Department is seeking a Systems Management administrator for the Configuration Management Team. This position works under a designated team lead and is responsible for supporting systems management as a service at the University of Connecticut. The successful candidate will be responsible for creating and validating configurations, general configuration support, and future development of additional related services. Familiarity with Microsoft Endpoint Configuration Manager (MECM, formerly SCCM), JAMF Pro/MDM, and Active Directory/Group Policy is a requirement. 


  • Maintains Microsoft Endpoint Configuration Manager and troubleshoots issues that arise.
  • Evaluates and implements new features, makes recommendations on process improvement.
  • Builds reports, monitors, and resolves issues with patching compliance and workstation security.
  • Development of scripts for automating frequent processes.
  • Configures new service integrations with role-based access permissions.
  • Team-oriented and collaborative, working in conjunction with the Configuration Management Team, other ITS teams, external IT departments, and various vendors.
  • Maintains general and specialized knowledge in the area of systems management to make and implement informed technical recommendations.  
  • Other related duties as required. 


  • 6 years of related experience; or an associate's degree and 4 years of related experience; or a bachelor's degree and 2 years of related experience.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Endpoint Configuration Manager, Windows client, and server operating systems.
  • Familiarity with Group Policy and Active Directory object management and permissions.
  • Familiarity with JAMF Pro (or other Mobile Device Management platforms), and macOS / iOS.
  • Familiarity with Windows Print services.
  • Familiarity with enterprise IT security best practices.
  • Familiarity with networking/firewalls.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Knowledge of scripting/automation.
  • Critical thinking, creative problem-solving, and analysis.

Additional Minimum Qualifications for Systems Administrator 2

  • 8 years of related experience; or an associate's degree and 6 years of related experience; or a bachelor's degree and 4 years of related experience.
  • Experience building or administering/managing Microsoft Endpoint Configuration Manager.
  • Experience building or administering/managing JAMF Pro (or another Mobile Device Management platform).


  • Ability to write basic scripts.
  • Experience using Microsoft Intune / Autopilot.
  • Experience identifying and remediating security issues in an enterprise environment.
  • Experience with PowerBI.

Additional Preferred Qualifications for Systems Administrator 2

  • Experience writing complex scripts; advanced PowerShell knowledge.
  • Experience administering Microsoft Intune/Autopilot in an enterprise environment.
  • Experience administering, securing, and upgrading Windows workstations and servers.

Salary for this position is $61,302 to $99,966 and will be commensurate with the successful candidate's background and experience.
