Responsibilities

Perspecta is supporting the Federal Protective Service agency of the Department of Homeland Security. We are supporting law enforcement personnel in their mission to keep federal employees and civilians safe and secure.

We are seeking an experience Systems Administrator to provide administrative and engineering services and support to DHS FPS applications. Will work with users to define requirements; write specifications to document application requirements; create requirement traceability matrix to aide testers during development; and validate code design and ensure code written to DHS or industry best practices. Will aid developers to ensure they understand user requirements and deliver a system that meets the user needs.

Will support Project Managers and provide application information needed to support systems development, maintenance and fielding; will create documentation to support milestone approvals, application management and ATO approval; will support operating system and services upgrades and server patching needed to maintain the system security posture; and develop plans and support tasks to move applications from development to production in a virtual cloud environment.

Responsibilities include:

  • Applying SCCM pushed patches and rebooting servers during off-peak hours
  • Patching servers manually when they don't get updates from the SCCM servers
  • Conducting vulnerability assessments of FPS applications and servers
  • Collaborating with ISSOs, Sys Admins, Developers, test team and DBAs to identify and resolve application issues
  • Maintain and build VMWARE VSphere virtual cloud servers for FPS systems.
  • Provide systems engineering support to hardware and software refresh projects, project planning and preparation of scope of work
  • Maintain on SharePoint, a detailed, up to date and easily accessible hardware/software inventory FPS systems for which Perspectais responsible
  • Coach, train and mentor teams members to ensure delivery of quality products using DHS and industry best practices
  • Work closely with the project management team, along with the onsite team partners, to identify solutions to increase efficiency and better secure FPS systems.
  • Notify the government when it is time to upgrade hardware or software that is at end of life due to warranty expiration or discontinuation of software support
  • Ensure client operations are in compliance including working with management to achieve compliance when new DHS or industry guidelines are issued
  • Diagnose, resolve, monitor, and validate systems during software deployments
  • Maintain production applications and managed SOAs and monitor metric performance
  • Develop business continuity plans for client including recommendations for data redundancy, backup and archival solutions
  • Assist with the migration of applications from physical to virtual server environments
  • Maintain the Concept of Operations (CONOPS) and Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) associated with the use of the network operations tools
  • Participate in the administration and maintenance of the remote monitoring and management system:
    • Update agent scripts
    • Respond to alerts
    • Monitor dashboard
    • Periodic system review

Qualifications

Requirements:

  • Requires minimum of 5+ years' experience in the IT field and 2+ years performing systems administration and systems engineering tasks, Bachelor's Degree in a technical discipline is desired.
  • Experience applying SCCM pushed patches and rebooting servers; experience patching servers manually when they don't get updates from the SCCM servers
  • Experience conducting vulnerability assessments of applications and servers
  • Experience maintaining and building VMWARE VSphere virtual cloud servers
  • Experience developing business continuity plans to include making recommendations for data redundancy, backup and archival solutions.
  • Experience reviewing CONOPS and reviewing processes
  • Strong communication skills, both oral and written.
  • Should have strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to interface effectively with a broad range of people and roles.
  • ====ship required and eligibility to obtain DHS Public Trust Security Clearance.
  • Current DHS EOD is preferred.
