JOB FUNCTION AND RESPONSIBILITIES

The Information Technology job family acquires, designs, implements and operates the organization's information technology resources, including computer hardware, operating systems, communications, software applications, data processing and security.
Business Analyst is responsible for the analysis, documentation, communicaiton and approval of functional/non-functional business requirements for software applications, 3rd party vendor packages, or infrastucture implementations. The Business Analyst is the liaison between the Ferguson business groups/departments and the Information Technology department.

PROBLEM SOLVING:

Problems and issues faced often need analysis to understand. Checks and make minor adjustments to work methods to solve problems that may not be immediately evident in existing work processes and systems. However, may have references or help from norms and/or standard procedures to solve these problems (e.g. operating manuals, ability to discuss in teams, or escalate issues to manager).

JOB DUTIES:Responsible for elicitation, analysis, and documentation of business requirements.
  • Research and exploration of user requirements, costs and benefits in support of documentation required for the demand management process.
  • Responsible for analyzing the business needs to identify new processes, process improvements and impact to current processes.
  • Analyze detailed system factors including input/output requirements, information and paper flow, hardware and software needs.
  • Analyze soft" system factors including: roles, responsibilities, policy, culture, etc.
  • Develop and facilitate groups as necessary in pursuit of eliciting and defining requirements.
  • May conduct system demonstrations and training sessions, as well as participate in design/review of training content.
  • Plays a third level support role by helping to troubleshoot and resolve issues with production systems.
  • Participates in associate meetings and communicates any concerns to management.
  • Performs peer reviews of requirements documentation from Business Analyst Levels 1 thru V

  • QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS

    PRIOR EXPERIENCE:A Bachelor's Degree in Computer Related or Business related field is typically required to perform at expectation
  • Experience Business Analysis can be substituted for education
  • Minimum of 1 year Ferguson business and software domain knowledge is preferred
  • Minimum of 2 years business analysis experience is preferred


  • TECHNICAL AND PROFESSIONAL SKILLS:

    Associate is expected to operate at the proficient level across the following areas of technical knowledge and skill:Detail oriented, proactive, creative, efficient, and an active listener with the ability to organize and prioritize work.
  • Intermediate level abilities in Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, Visio and Word
  • Ability to effectively work both independently and collaboratively in a team environment
  • Ability to work on simultaneous projects, with domain expertise in one business area.
  • Ability to communicate effectively to both technical and non-technical audiences in written and non-written format
  • Ability to work with all levels of associates and minimal supervision in a very dynamic environment
  • Ability to learn new systems and tools
  • Knowledge of the software development life cycle methodologies, processes and procedures.
  • Act independently or as a member of a project team responsible for providing technical guidance concerning the business implications of the application of various systems. Provides technical consulting on complex projects.
  • Effective in a variety of formal/informal presentation settings: one-on-one, small and large group.
