Job Description


Northrop Grumman Mission Systems seeks a Technical Writer 2 to join our Avionics & Tactical Networks (ATN) teams located at the Rancho Carmel campus located in San Diego, California. Our expertise is in delivering complex equipment to enable modern battlefields and support aviation missions. Our focus is on the world of avionics, radio and electronic warfare product applications to enable networked communications. As part of the corporation's business focus area on Communications, we are the "equipment providers." Our team of communication systems experts is developing next-generation ground radios for land forces, and our Electronic Warfare subject matter experts are creating the next generation of Improvised Explosive Device (IED) countermeasures to keep our soldiers safe when in harm's way. The Technical Writer responsibilities include:


* Prepare, review, revise, and maintain technical documents including test procedure, test specification, user guide, software specification, systems engineering, and system operations documentation.


* Write and edit technical documentation for all of the project's hardware and software to include installation, configuration and how-to documentation.


* Create code documentation for software; produce implementation guides and end-user guides for capabilities.


* Develop custom document templates and macros for engineers.


* Develop, organize, and compose clear, concise, and readable technical documents that may include diagrams, flow charts, photos, and graphics that must be captured and manipulated to support content. ERCOMMS

Qualifications

Basic Qualifications:


* BS in English or technical discipline with 3 years of experience; 1 year with Masters.


* Must have excellent English, spelling, and grammar skills.


* Must be able to analyze project scope and set interim deadlines for documentation development.


* Proficient with MS Office suite and Adobe Acrobat.

Preferred Qualifications:


* Use of desktop publishing systems.


* Experience with production and engineering procedures and documents.


* Ability to read and understand: engineering drawings, documents, and specifications.


* Familiarity with PowerPoint, Excel, Visio, graphic and photo management software and document management systems desirable.
