The Technical Writer's primary role is to assist in preparing and maintaining program documentation to include both technical documents, such as standard operation procedures, user guides and manuals, and technical publications; as well as program documents such as communications with the end user population, web portal content, and monthly reports and deliverables. Working closely with the communications group and program management offices, develop templates and standard formats for deliverables, agendas, meeting minutes, reports, and other communications. Create and update technical documents for internal and other service provider use, based on engineering drawings, technical information from engineering documentation, consultations with engineers and subject matter experts, and other available sources. Produce user manuals, training manuals, and other documentation utilized by the end-user community. Interpret engineering and maintenance drawings, operational procedures to understand and blend large quantities of computer related information; Research technical subject matter, organizes information from multiples sources, and express technical information in written form that is comprehensible to a wide audience of readers.
