We have an opportunity for a Technical Writer to join our talented Professional Services team.  The successful candidate must possess good oral and written communication knowledge, skills, and abilities.

Typical responsibilities include:

  • Write technical direction on email announcements and formal documentation.
  • Assists in collecting and organizing information required for preparation of plans, reports, technical and management guidance, manuals, training materials, proposals, and reports. 
  • Edits prepared materials to ensure acceptable language, format, and grammar. 
  • Assists in review and publication of both hard copy and automated/web content.
  • Ensure technical verbiage is easy to understand by the layperson.
  • Write clear and concise policies and procedures.
  • Submit copies to managers for feedback.
  • Adjust copy as necessary and proofread for grammar and spelling.
  • Release the document following final approval.

Required Skills

  • An Associate’s degree in English, Communications or related field
  • 3+ years of work experience related to creating or editing technical documents
  • Must demonstrate the ability to plan, prepare, edit and publish technical and management documents
  • Strong oral and written communication skills are required.
  • Strong customer service and interpersonal skills
  • Excellent presentation & communication skills in both oral and written form
  • Genuine desire to learn is essential. 
  • Ability to acquire Public trust clearance

Desired Skills

  • 2 years of technical writing/editing experience within IT environment
  • Experience in interviewing stakeholders and working with internal teams to obtain an in-depth understanding of the project and the relevant documentation requirements
  • Strong proficiency in Visio, Word, Excel and PowerPoint is desirable
  • Proficiency in using online content management tools such as SharePoint, Collaborate is a plus

This position is located in the Washington DC metro region.
