Function: Mid level technologist with experience in analyzing, designing, implementing solutions for RISK & REGULATORY TECH in M&T. The applicant is expected to closely work with senior developers in implementing solutions as per the requirements. Ability to work independently and to take ownership of task delivery is critical for success in this role. Understand and evaluate alternative options, architectural and technical choices.
Leads activities of several Technology Team Leaders or units and is responsible for each Team's/unit's development and systems support efforts. Provides day-to-day direction for the units and applications in line with the goals of department and the clients they support. Responsible for leading client relations and expectations. Leads the project queue for their area. Strives to achieve individual and organizational objectives at minimum cost.
Lead and participate in consults with client management in the analysis of short-range business requirements and recommend innovations that anticipate future impacts of changing business requirements. Responsible for building positive client relationships.
Monitor technology direction of the industry and vendor applications. Research and initiate change when necessary. Responsible for vendor/product analysis and recommendations. Lead application development/supports testing efforts/technology infrastructure/project management and other technology domains. Serve as subject matter expert in assigned area of responsibility.
Build rapport within the organization. Develop a professional level of communication and collaboration. Maintain relationships with vendors and professional organizations.
Control activities of the teams, assign personnel to various projects and direct their activities. Ensure completion of schedules. Responsible for short-term FTE (full-time equivalent) planning.
Implement technology consistent with Division's standards and long-range plans. Ensure consistency to all department and technology standards and procedures, including all documentation requirements.
May translate requirements to assist staff in preparing detailed specifications for system improvements. Lead recommended designs based on business requirements and technology requirements. Identify issues and concerns.
Monitor project plans; may coordinate major project activities. Stay ahead of activities outside the team that may impact the team or client environment.
Develop and lead multiple cost center budgets.
Recommend and initiate new policies and procedures designed to improve the performance and effectiveness of the department.
Adhere to applicable compliance/operational risk controls in accordance with Company or regulatory standards and policies.
Maintain M&T internal control standards, including timely implementation of internal and external audit points together with any issues raised by external regulators as applicable.
Exercise usual authority of a manager concerning staffing, performance appraisals, promotions, salary recommendations, performance management and terminations.
Complete other related duties as assigned.
Associate's degree and a minimum of 8 years' technology and/or systems management/leadership experience, or in lieu of a degree a combined minimum of 10 years' higher education and/or work experience, including a minimum of 8 years' technology and/or systems management/leadership experience 5+ years of strong development experience building applications using core development languages like Java/C++/C#/Python/ SQL Server &/OR Oracle or other OO Programming languages in financial services industry.Hands-on experience in Java/C++/C#, Python, WebServices (REST/SOAP)5 years' experience working on enterprise applications Experience with enterprise applications in financial services industry Experience with Agile Methodology/Development Prior Finance or Capital Markets experience big plus Desired Skills Prior experience working on multiple projects of a complex nature
Prior experience using pertinent project management, word processing and spreadsheet applications
Proven analytical skills to assist in issue resolution
Familiarity with application development software and hardware platforms

Bachelor's degree and 10 years' technology management or large program leadership experience

SAS experience is a big plus
Subject Matter Expert understanding of applications supported with an advanced knowledge of interfacing/integrated applications
Understanding of businesses' supported and corresponding terminology
Understanding of multiple business area's functions
