ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE THE FOLLOWING:
Education and/or Experience: Master’s Degree in Social Work plus 3 years of experience in Counseling Services, Victim Assistance/Advocacy, Child Care, or related field.
Language Skills: Proficient written and oral English. Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to provide compassionate feedback in-person, over the phone and/or via email. Bilingual skills desirable.
Client Service Skills: Ability to be empathetic and compassionate without further exasperating the client and/or compromising the validity of an allegation; responsibly respond to a variety of questions related to prevention education, youth protection, Safe Environment requirements and training issues.
Technical Skills: Proficiency with MS Word, Excel and Outlook. Experience with Shield the Vulnerable and VIRTUS preferred.
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations: Valid driver's license & criminal background fingerprint clearance (Live Scan) through the California Department of Justice and FBI.
Physical Demands: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit for extended periods of time, use hands in repetitive motion tasks, handle objects and talk or hear. The employee may be required to stand for extended periods of time. The employee must frequently walk, stoop, reach with hands/arms, lift/move up to 10 pounds and be able to retrieve and replace files in filing cabinets. Specific vision abilities required include close vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus. As needed, the employee will be required to drive to diocesan parishes/schools/institutions.
Physical Environment: While performing the duties of this job the employee will work in an open area where the desks are situated close to one another with limited privacy. The noise and traffic levels in the office are fairly high. Victim assistance and training/presentation environments may vary.
Working Conditions: The employee must be able to work closely and cooperatively with other members of the staff/clients, and be able to multi-task with frequent interruptions. The employee is expected to work full-time (25-30 Hrs./wk) but regular office attendance is not required. Work location will be dependent on task/project and hours with flexibility to accommodate both victim assistance and on-site trainings/presentations. The employee must be reasonably available during regular office hours are Tuesday - Friday and on-call for victim assistance and evening/weekend trainings/presentations relative to work schedule. Overtime and/or overnight travel are rarely required and based upon Supervisor approval.
