The Telecom Engineer s responsibility is to assist in the development, implementation, and support of the company s telecommunications infrastructure. This includes installing, configuring, maintaining, supporting, and optimizing all telephone systems and services, voicemail and VOIP communication systems, and audio/video conferencing environments. The Telecom Engineer will also analyze and resolve telecommunications circuit issues in a timely and accurate fashion, and support user needs where required. Must have 5-8+ years of experience in Cisco Telecommunications.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Primary duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following.
Manage and administrate entire telecommunications infrastructure and its associated software, including call management systems, voice mail, interactive voice response, and audio/video conferencing systems.

Assist in the development of long-range telecommunications development plans in accordance with stated business strategy.
Design and participate in telecommunications projects with a goal to improving or expanding the current infrastructure.
Develop, implement, and maintain policies, procedures, and training plans for telecommunication systems administration and appropriate use.
Work with end users to establish service level agreements based on user requirements.
Assess need for any system reconfigurations (minor or significant), make recommendations, and execute them as required.
Conduct research on emerging products, services, protocols, and standards in support of telecommunications equipment procurement and development efforts.
Interact and negotiate with vendors, outsourcers, and contractors to secure communications products and services in a timely and professional manner.
Prepare telecommunications budget recommendations.
Administer add, move, and change requests from end users as well as new line installations as required.
Monitor and identify capacity and performance issues for telecommunications traffic to ensure continued, uninterrupted operation of telecommunications systems and desired quality of service.
Generate telecommunications usage and inventory reports as required.
Conduct testing and development of disaster recovery plans to detect faults, minimize malfunctions, and backup systems.
Oversee and implement the acquisition and installation of state-of-the-art telecommunications equipment.
Interact with technical staff to ensure the safe and proper installation of cabling, wiring, and other electrical hardware.
Provide on-call technical support. Ability to work varying extended workdays to support business needs including on-call availability.
Other duties may be assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS: Telecom Engineers possess a highly developed sense of customer service and interpersonal skills including high integrity, respect for all individuals (customers, vendors, and employees), solid communication skills, strong critical and analytical thinking skills, and appreciation of diversity (thought, ethnic, gender, etc.).
Telecom Engineers must be highly self motivated and directed, have keen attention to detail, and be strong team players. Telecom Engineers should have the ability to effectively prioritize and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment. Telecom Engineers should also have a strong knowledge of applicable privacy practices and laws.
EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE: Bachelors degree or work/degree equivalent. Past performance supporting hundreds of users across multiple sites geographically dispersed with centralized enterprise IT operations. Advanced working knowledge of Unified Communications and Architecture for Voice, Video, and Integrated Data, process improvement, Quality of Service, and development lifecycles. Strong interpersonal skills including written and verbal communication, along with critical problem solving are a necessity. Experience with transformational projects involving telephony platform and Service Provider migrations. Project management expertise in the field of Information Technology desired.
Ten plus years in the field of Information Technology, with no less than five directly involved in Voice-over-IP solutions.
Understanding of LAN/WAN and telephony concepts
WAN Connectivity: Copper/Fiber, ISDN, T1, Broadband, 4G/LTE
Voice Services: TDM/SIP, H.323, G.729, G.711, POTS (analog)
Vendors knowledge: Cisco VOIP, Adtran and Cisco Routers and Switches,
Familiarity of porting numbers between Service Providers
Coordination of circuit implementation with Service Providers
Ability to multitask, prioritize, and engage in independent and team oriented projects
Experience using Microsoft Office and associated applications
