This position manages the vision, strategic objectives and tactics to automate and streamline
HR and payroll processes and proactively grow the Human Capital Management (HCM)
application service levels while providing measurable value to internal and external customers.
Partners and collaborates with leaders and team members in HR, payroll and the Institute to
analyze work process design and flow, systems gaps and problems, and manual inefficiencies.
Collaborates with team members to improve processes and leverages the return on investment in the HCM capabilities using best practices. Demonstrates strong understanding of HR and payroll data that drives system needs and continually works to ensure that HR and payroll user
needs are met in a manner that is effective, efficient, and ultimately serves the HR and payroll
The HRIS Manager is a creative, resourceful and integrative thinker responsible for the
administration and day-to-day use of the HCM. This role serves as the HCM technical point-ofcontact
and assists subject matter experts ensuring data integrity, testing of system changes,
report writing and analyzing data flows for process improvement opportunities. Position supports
HCM application upgrades, patches, and testing. Maintains and administers system quality
control standards, including system security and administration. Also serves as primary contact
for vendor and manages ongoing relationship.
Participates in a cross-functional support group with Information Systems and Finance
departments to coordinate system and process changes due to system maintenance (e.g. new
software versions, new hardware), and administrative functions (e.g. creating new departments,
addressing audit requirements). Documents system use and configuration changes. Also,
proactively interfaces with end users and pertinent stakeholders to ensure services are adjusted
to meet changing Institute needs, and to optimize service levels.
1) (40%) HR Systems Management & Strategy
Participates in formulation and implementation of HCM vision and strategies in conjunction with stakeholders.
Leads the HR and payroll teams in gathering the process and data requirements for systems projects.
Collaborates with the subject matter experts to understand their processes, needs, issues, and complexities in their key areas and formulates requirements documentation. Includes design, process, and flow considerations based on customer needs and best practices.
Ensures accurate, best practice business processes and workflows are in place within the HCM and other system dependencies.
Coordinates with HR and payroll users to complete project deliverables on-time for various projects whether short-term, annual or larger in scope.
Acts as the primary contact for the Information Systems and Finance departments when designing project plans to meet necessary milestones.
Facilitates development of HR and payroll team member's skills related to process improvement and system development, such as business process flow charting, data analysis and functional design.
Manages the HCM vendor relationship and support process to prioritize and execute request for changes and/or enhancements to HCM.
Analyzes and reviews existing business processes, controls, procedures and applications to develop innovative solutions that maximize efficiency and usability while ensuring all activities are in compliance with Institute polices along with federal, state, and local laws, regulations and ordinances.
Independently prioritizes and accomplishes multiple tasks within established timeframes.
Partners and negotiates effectively with vendors and internal partners, manages relationships and serves as main point of contact.
Solicits regular feedback from stakeholders and end users to ensure HCM and related services are meeting expected service levels. Formulates solutions to areas where service levels are not meeting expectations.
Provides clear and concise status updates for key project stakeholders including direct communication with project sponsors.
Performs additional duties as required. Performs special projects as assigned.
2) (30%) HR Systems Configuration/Testing
Develops and completes required documentation and design reviews. Performs testing and migration of updates and changes to the HCM system.
Manages configuration and design of various HCM modules including: Benefits, HR, Training & Development, Recruiting, Payroll, etc. Reviews and analyzes data to understand patterns and relationships.
Resolves issues between HR/Payroll/Benefits by coordinating with the other subject matter experts and team members in those units.
Actively participates in testing of system upgrades and data loads to certify appropriate functionality before new releases are rolled into production.
Coordinates projects including but not limited to: System security, Reports Server and software or hardware upgrades.
Serve as lead on system security for quality and controls, data protection and data privacy regulations.
Participates in and keeps current with vendor notices, announcements, and latest training content. Engage with vendor s online customer community to ensure knowledge of current and future announced capabilities as well as awareness of problems, challenges, and potential solutions other customers are discussing.
Design, maintain and troubleshoot HCM interfaces with various vendors.
3) (20%) Reports and Data Access
Creates and publishes customer HR and payroll reports. Works with Information Systems and Finance departments to design and create complex reporting capabilities and share techniques.
Expand access to the data by designing reporting views for additional HR users, administrative staff and external customers.
Assists new users in developing simple reports.
Focuses on data analysis to spot trends, edge cases and exceptions to established data entry standards.
Accountable for the development and distribution of critical reports, dashboards, and metrics to the Institute.
Develops information-reporting requirements, specifications and user reporting capabilities to extract data for a wide range of human resources reporting and for leadership decision-making.
Manages HR metrics and analytical reporting.
Collaborates with Information Systems department to ensure accurate data flow into the Data Warehouse and other reporting vehicles as well as ensuring full understanding of downstream data use and impact.
4) (10%) Collaboration & Training
Coordinates with the HR Partners and Managers and payroll team to provide user training and documentation for the HCM.
Provides training to HR and payroll staff to ensure understanding of data usage, ownership and downstream connectivity.
Provides answers to user questions on Salk HCM related topics.
Determines the required training components to resolve data or system related issues.
Identifies internal cross training opportunities and external training needs for HCM team and end-users. Develops and implements training programs and opportunities that ensure HR and Payroll partners receive formal training.
Establishes and maintains strategic relationships with all internal and external stakeholders including Institute management, cross-functional teams, internal business partners and vendors.
Point of contact for all subject matter experts on HCM changes, upgrades, and questions.
Interacts professionally and effectively through verbal and written communication. Provides consistent and superior customer service. Serves as interface between HR, IT, IS, Finance and other functional areas to ensure effective delivery of HCM applications and technical integrations.
Participates in and/or conducts meetings and presentations in various formats formal and informal.
7+ years of progressive and professional experience in HR/HCM systems
HR/HCM system implementation experience
Advanced knowledge of HCM configuration and design including various HCM modules: Benefits, Training & Development, Recruitment, Core HR, Payroll, etc.
Vendor management experience, including working with interfaces
Experience with cloud SaaS tools
Ultimate Software experience highly preferred
Project Management Professional (PMP)
Bachelor s Degree in Human Resources, Business, Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field.
