Summary: The Unified Communications Systems Engineer, Principle will serve on Task Orders for all issues related to the Unified Communications environment within the Desktop solution. The Unified Communications Systems Engineer, Principle will work directly with multiple Vendors (E.g., Microsoft, Cisco, Polycom, others) and program engineering resources to design and integrate Unified Communications solutions that allow interoperability between multiple technology baselines and legacy implementations. The Unified Communications Systems Engineer, Principle will provide hands-on work to configure and resolve technically complex Unified Communications solutions for Intelligence Community customers using the latest UC technologies (e.g, Skype for Business voice, video, and chat; Cisco Unified Call Manager; and multiple VTC solutions).

Essential Duties and Responsibilities: (Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions of this position)

  • Designs, documents, installs, maintains, and troubleshoots complex high availability hardware and software for Unified Communications.

  • Works directly with Vendors/OEMs, Engineering staff, and User Transition personnel for integration improvements to the solution, as well as O&M for legacy equipment.

  • Identifies issues and create improvement processes to reduce incident outage times.

  • Ensures compliance with policies and procedures including DoD STIG requirements.

  • Develops and maintains documentation of all processes associated with administration of the communications and system networks and duties performed by network & system administrators.

Minimum Qualifications: (To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.)

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Engineering or a related technical discipline, or the equivalent combination of education, technical training/certification, or work/military experience. For applicants without the relevant college degree, a history of certifications from various sources will be considered.

  • 12 years of relevant work experience

    • Extensive messaging and Unified Communications design and administration.

    • Voice, video, chat, teleconferencing, VTC.

    • Microsoft technologies, particularly Skype for Business.

    • Hands-on experience installing, troubleshooting and operating Unified Communications technologies.

  • TS/SCI w/ CI Poly


  • PowerShell Scripting

  • Citrix XenDesktop 7

  • McAfee Next Generation Firewall

  • Experience in a large, geographically dispersed environment.

  • Possess one of the following certifications: MCITP; MCSA; MCSE - Communications; MCSA; MCTS

  • 8570 compliant

  • (Optionally) Cisco technologies for Unified Communications and VTC.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • In-depth knowledge of High-Availability computing and networking (load balancing, TCP/IP, DHCP, DNS).

  • Knowledge of Dell Networking Appliances
