A $1 billion global cutting edge medical company is looking for a VMWare Administrator.

The VMWare Administrator will perform VMWare system administration and system management duties for the entire VMWare Virtual Infrastructure of 800+ virtual servers. The VMWare Administrator will support the physical infrastructure consisting of a primary Datacenter, a Disaster Recovery site and 90 Global locations

Specific responsibilities include:

  • Manage, administer, install, configure, patch/upgrade and troubleshoot entire VMWare Virtual Infrastructure utilizing vCenter v6.5 and vSphere v6.5
  • Utilize VMware ESXi v6.5.0 type-1 hypervisor (not a Hyper-V Shop) to deploy and serve virtual computers
  • Write vCLI and/or PowerCLI to automate tasks
  • Utilize Cisco UCS Director to increase efficiency by automating multiple tasks, deliver error-free resources, simplify data center operations with centralized management and increase productivity with on-demand ordering of IT resources and services
  • Install, configure and manage Cisco UCS 5100 Series Blade Server Chassis series/standalone hardware including upgrading firmware/configuring OA and setting up system profiles
  • Research, design, build out and deploy a plan for VMWare infrastructure expansion including risk analysis, technical specifications and requirements, capacity management, vendor analysis, documentation and implementation
  • Support implementation, configuration and operations and maintenance of VMware components to include SRM and VRA
  • Implement patches and upgrades to ensure VMWare environment is in compliance with Center for Internet Security (CIS) recommendations
  • If candidates technical background allows: Manage, administer, upgrade/grow 200+ TB SAN running on 4 EMC (Dell) VNX5400 storage arrays utilizing EMC XtremIO X-Brick X2-R for virtual servers and EMC Replication Manager (or RecoverPoint) for bidirectional replication and backup

The VMWare Administrator reports to the Director of Network Engineering

REQUIREMENTS:

MUST HAVE 2-3+ years’ experience managing, installing, configuring, administering and troubleshooting VMWare Virtual Infrastructure with 400-500+ virtual servers utilizing vCenter and vSphere

Experience utilizing VMware ESXi v6.5.0 Hypervisor to deploy and serve virtual computers

Write vCLI and/or PowerCLI to automate tasks

Experience with Cisco UCS Director

 

The following are a Plus only (NOT Mandatory):

 

Any experience designing, architecting and building out a new ground up VMWare Virtualized infrastructure and/or expanding/growing an existing VMWare infrastructure is a plus

Any experience administering an EMC/Dell SAN is a plus

Any experience with Citrix is a plus

VMware VCP Certification.
