Job Description

We are seeking a Quality Assurance Engineer - Verification who will design, develop, and oversee the execution of test protocols for functional verification of Piper Networks integrated systems and software. This role works closely with our software team, and will be directly involved in the innovation of technologies in our products, processes, and verification methods. This verification focused Quality Assurance role plays an important part in our company's product development process. The ideal candidate will be responsible for conducting thorough verification to ensure that end-to-end software components and integrated hardware/software systems run smoothly and meet requirements. Candidates will have the skill set and experience to meet the responsibilities noted below, working in a collaborative, team environment.

  • Design, implement and execute a Verification plan
  • Estimate testing effort and develop an optimal test strategy (manual vs automation)
  • Perform testing and provide supervision of QA engineers to complete testing
  • Effectively execute, monitor and troubleshoot prototype and production builds as necessary
  • Write documentation for test protocols, results and reports
  • Ensure traceability from requirements/specifications to verification
  • Track defects and work with software and cross-functional teams to debug
  • Analyze and communicate test results and perform reliability analysis
  • Perform software process (intended use) validations of "off the shelf" (OTS) tools
  • Support all necessary efforts to ensure safety certification of products.
  • BS degree in Computer Science, or equivalent work experience
  • 3+ years of professional experience as a test engineer with experience testing both software and
  • hardware
  • Familiarity with Linux - command line tools, configuration, etc.
  • Software programming experience - Applied knowledge of one or more of the following: Bash Shell Scripting, C, C++, JavaScript, Python
  • Configuration management, defect tracking, test plans, test protocols, and test execution
  • Git / Github for software version control and issue tracking
  • Conducting root cause analysis, working closely with software developers
  • Continuous integration frameworks, test automation systems and test case management systems
  • Working across the full life cycle of software development
  • Excellent communication (verbal and written) and documentation skills

Nice to have:
  • Experience with safety critical integrated hardware/software systems such as medical or transportation systems
  • Worked in an Agile software development environment
  • Experience with embedded systems
  • Experience with "white box" testing.
  • Represent and position the company as an industry leader at standards and certification agency meetings and working groups with customers
