The Aladdin Platform Operations is part of the Aladdin Product Group at BlackRock. It is responsible for ensuring a fully stable, resilient, scalable, and cost-efficient production environment across all our core investment systems.
The Aladdin Platform Operations group is seeking to hire a Web Infrastructure Engineer for its Web Operations Team. This team is responsible for the design, maintenance, security and continuous improvement of BlackRock s web stack for both DMZ and internal sites.
This role is as a member of an established global team involving coordination with different stakeholders across the regions. The team interacts regularly with other technology teams, project managers and software developers. The team uses advanced off-the-shelf software (e.g Nginx, Apache, Squid, Consul, Java web servers) and develop our own tools to assist in running and controlling a complex environment.
The individual should be a web application technology advocate driven by performance, uptime, and resiliency. The individual will be responsible for improving existing web application architecture and its security. This will include working with different teams to preform security remediation, upgrades to third-party web software, configure and write custom code to accommodate the numerous applications that use these and future frameworks. Successful candidates will be able to demonstrate an ability to take total ownership of issues.
Problem determination / Resolution: Work with the Development and Operational teams to design/engineer web infrastructure to meet future needs, secure the platforms, provide level 2 support for operational issues.
Flexibility: Handle multiple efforts from multiple teams and prioritize in terms of criticality, which to focus and resolve first.
Build efficiency: Identify, recommend, and implement long term changes to continuously improve applications reliability and performance. Simply, automate and improve our methods to build more efficiency.
Communication: Build positive relationships with other teams through clear & concise communication, delivery and knowledge sharing
Weekend Support: Occasionally provide on-call support for weekend maintenances and priority issues
Qualifications / Experience
Successful completion of a degree in computer science or related IT field
5+ years experience in Web based applications
