Solidus is searching for a Software Engineer to work in a team environment to design, develop, and integrate control software for use in wireless communications systems such as communication satellite payloads and associated ground terminals. The software will primarily be run on both commercially available single-board computers in an embedded environment and general purpose processors. The software will be integrated and then tested with a mix of commercial off-the-shelf and proprietary digital hardware boards used to perform advanced digital signal processing functions, commercial off-the-shelf networking equipment, and application layer services. \n\n
\n- Responsible for having a system level understanding to lead the hands-on diagnosis of issues which arise during the integration and testing process.
\n-Work closely with other software and firmware developers to remedy the issues.
\n-Support staff in testing and maintaining the Protected Tactical Waveform prototype Hub and Terminal, as well as the Advanced Extremely High Frequency (AEHF) Satellite Simulator and Test Terminal. \n\n
The successful candidate will join a group involved in a synergistic combination of research, proof-of-concept test beds, and system engineering/application efforts focused on the goals of enhancing the capacity, the robustness to interference, and the flexibility of future generations of communications satellites, as well as line-of-sight radio communications systems. Current research is concentrating on the design and performance of advanced waveforms (including higher-order signaling constellations and iterative demodulation/decoding), the construction of flexible, adaptive wideband frequency plans, robust acquisition and tracking techniques, dynamic resource-allocation protocols, and advanced networking strategies. \n\n
\n-US Citizen and the ability to obtain a DoD Secret Clearance
\n- PhD plus 5 years minimum experience, or MS plus 8 years minimum experience
\n-Experience with a variety of software languages such as C++/C, Python, JAVA, and JSON, and MATLAB
\n-Databases: MS Access, SQL
\n-The candidate should be able to apply programming skills to efficiently perform development tasks.
\n-Familiarity with inter-process communication and concurrent programming.
\n-Demonstration of strong communication skills, both oral and written.
\n-The engineer must be willing to work in a team environment.
\n-An expert understanding of the Advanced Extremely High Frequency signaling and protocols
\n-An expert understanding of the Protected Tactical Waveform signaling and protocols
\n-The engineer should be skilled in both system test planning and test execution.
\n-The ideal candidate would also be fluent in using software packages necessary in the automation and testing of signal processing systems.
\n-Experience with communication system design will be considered favorably.
\n-Recent experience debugging issues and resolving anomalies in a system test environment is strongly desired. \n\n
