Maxar is looking for a Research Statistician to join our deep and diverse technical team renowned for accomplishments in radar sensor design and development, image processing, enterprise and product engineering, and operationalization of powerful SAR technologies.

What will you be doing?
  • Work with a diverse, motivated, and talented team to solve critical geospatial intelligence (GEOINT) problems in a fast-paced, mission-focused environment.
  • Experimental design and execution of user evaluations focused on advanced SAR algorithms and products.
  • Participation in planning and execution of field experiments to collect robust ground truth image data.
  • Data compilation, organization, and wrangling.
  • Statistical analysis, data science, and development of predictive models toward comprehensive characterization of SAR algorithm and product quality/utility.
  • Derivation of germane quality metrics and scales for wide user and enterprise applicability.
  • Planning & execution of studies toward system performance modeling and trade studies.
  • Optimization of SAR GEOINT product quality & exploitation.
  • Summarization and presentation of technical results, solutions, and recommendations.

Minimum Requirements:
  • Must be U.S. Citizen with the ability to obtain a TS/SCI clearance.
  • Bachelor's degree in Statistics or Mathematics, or related technical field with statistics minor/concentration.
  • 2+ years of experience in experimental design, evaluation, statistical data analysis, and/or linear modeling.
  • Proficient in the organization and exploitation of large and complex data sets.
  • Programming skills w/ the ability to conduct research utilizing Python, R, scripting, MATLAB, and/or equivalent.
  • Ability to effectively communicate complex ideas and results to technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Aptitude and creativity for working with significant latitude in research direction and application.
  • Capacity to collaborate with internal and external experts across a range of relevant technical disciplines.

Preferred Skills:
  • Current TS/SCI clearance.
  • Master's degree or Ph.D. in the academic fields as specified above, with a concentration in experimental design, evaluation, statistical data analysis, and/or linear modeling.
  • Any additional experience in the stated concentration areas.
  • Signal processing experience or coursework.
  • Any experience/familiarity with SAR system design, processing, and/or algorithm development.
  • Strong technical writing skills.
  • Familiarity with software engineering practices, development, and implementation.
