During this summer internship the intern will be driving a proof of concept study using AWS Kendra. This new platform is an insight engine which will allow the user to search internal and external data repositories using natural language queries and machine learning to prioritize results. The intern will work with a team of Vertex employees including technical experts in GIS, and a representative of the users in the Vertex clinical operations team.
The intern will be using an agile approach to build a test environment. The intern will be receiving guidance from AWS and from our internal GIS team to learn about the process of designing Kendra (see: https://aws.amazon.com/kendra/) and about the sandbox environment in which the system will reside during the poc. The intern will work closely with the business partner to understand the use case, complete a usable test environment and to gather information on the usability and value of this application. The intern will participate in a presentation to relevant parties at the end of the poc to make recommendations for broader adoption of the system.
