DESCRIPTION:

For one of our global clients, we have an immediate need for an Electrical Engineer to be based Rochester, NY. We would like the Electrical Engineer to have expertise in at least some of the following:

  • Electrical Engineering
  • Analog and Digital Power Supply Design
  • Simulation
  • Schematic Capture Tool usage (DxDesigner and PADS)
  • Power Supply Simulation Tools
  • LTSPICE
  • Matlab
  • Isolated Convertor topologies
  • EMI design
  • Conducted & radiated emissions
  • DFM analysis & implementation

Seeking a highly motivated, team-oriented Electrical engineer experienced with Analog and Digital Power Supply Design to join an engineering organization that designs and delivers leading edge communications products.

The successful candidate will be responsible for the design and development of circuitry and PWB layout best practices in power supply development for tactical radios and PA accessories. This individual will be a member of a cross functional development team with hands on responsibility for leading aspects of design, analysis, integration, and testing. Strong communication and interpersonal skills coupled with the ability work within a large engineering team are required.

This role requires strong leadership and teamwork skills. The candidate be responsible for championing innovative systems approaches and evaluating strategic technology developments. The candidate should be experienced in leading initiatives beyond their own core technical specialty. They should be able to influence collaborative efforts across the engineering organization to focus on the requirements management, technical baseline creation, review and approval, technical roadmap creation and aspects of system engineering process compliance including, but not limited to, process artifact review and approval and risk management/analysis.

Essential Functions:

  • Support Power Supply hardware research, design, and development of DC-DC and AC-DC (3-phase and single-phase) topologies for applications with power consumption up to 2kW
  • Application of the principles and techniques of electrical engineering
  • Make design decisions and assess technical risks
  • Perform simulation and analysis on Power Supply circuitry
  • Perform integration with other subsystems including RF and Digital circuitry
  • Perform subsystem and system level verification and validation testing
  • Identify, track and repair assigned hardware defects
  • Provide direction to other engineering resources on project teams as required

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree and a minimum 9 years of prior related experience or
  • Master's Degree and a minimum of 7 years prior relevant experience

Preferred Additional Skills:

  • <>4+ years of experience in a power supply design role (including simulation and analysis)</>
  • <>3+ years of experience with schematic capture tool usage (DxDesigner and PADS preferable)</>
  • <>Experience with Power Supply simulation tools (LTSPICE, Matlab, etc.)</>
  • <>Experience with Isolated Convertor topologies and design principles including PFC</>
  • <>Experience designing and evaluating power supplies for compliance with MIL-STD-704 or MIL-STD-1275</>
  • <>Knowledge of EMI design and test techniques for conducted and radiated emissions (MIL-STD-461)</>
  • <>Experience in DFM analysis and implementation for volume manufacturing</>
  • <>Experience with DOORS or equivalent requirements management tools a plus</>
  • <>Experience with Configuration Management software (Agile preferred)</>
  • <>Ability to work autonomously and with others to resolve technical issues</>
  • <>Proven and effective communications skills, interpersonal skills and customer focus are a must</>
