For this Sr. Product Owner position, we're looking for someone with a strong desire and ability to help drive Innovation at the Propulsion Lab. As a Product Owner, you will be responsible for setting, prioritizing, and evaluating the work generated by a software Scrum team in order to ensure impeccable features and functionality of the product. You will also manage POCs and pilot programs conducted with vendors in order to evaluate the effectiveness of the solution.

The Propulsion Lab is the technology innovation arm at RBS. Basic Qualifications:

• 2-5 years experience working in a Product Owner or Product Manager role

• Bachelors or higher in a field related to Product Management, CS or Business

• Experience with Design Thinking

• Passion working with solutions involving emerging technologies, which may include software apps, AR/VR, IoT, robotics, 3D printing, voice interaction, AI/ML and others

• Must possess the ability to effectively communicate using strong verbal, written and listening skills

• Ability to come up with creative ways to look at problems and solutions

• Must be able to adapt quickly to change without being afraid to take on new responsibilities in a fast-paced team environment while being proactive and action-oriented

Preferred Qualifications:

• Master's degree a plus

• Retail or Retail Grocery Experience a plus

• Experience within a startup environment or innovation team a plus

A Day in the Life:

• Collaborate with Designers, Technologists and Retail Centre of Excellence on projects

• Conduct Design Thinking workshops/exercises to assist our Brands with understand their needs, ideate on or refine solutions, and determine the Value Propositions of solutions

• Facilitate understanding of projects, portfolios and Innovation Vision

• Connect perspectives of Users/Brands to technology concepts

• Develop better understanding of problems relevant to brands by identifying and defining personas, processes and their interrelationships and articulate these problems

• Research, explore, evaluate, recommend solutions to problems relevant to the brands

• Provide recommendations based on insights from research, best practices and usability testing

• Use team-developed and industry best practices and work with team to improve on them

• You look for ways to continue to improve our processes as contributor and member of the product team

Responsibilities:
  • Research and analyze market, the users, and the roadmap for the product
  • Manage and define backlog items that guide the Agile software development team.
  • Defining the scope of the project, criteria for success and create test plan to track success metrics.
  • Effectively communicate with various teams, manage projects, document meetings, facilitate discussions, liaise, and collaborate with technical teams, QA, UI/UX design and stake holders
  • Adapt and work productively within a dynamic business and technical environment
  • Draft key objectives and results, strategies and apply the data for the product to make business decisions
  • Develop and document test plans, analyze, track and testing results, identify, prioritize, and resolve challenges.


Skills:
  • Effectively collaborate with stakeholders to create roadmaps, vision, and plan for pilot/proof of concept
  • Strong and persuasive communication skills to achieve consensus from stakeholders on development plans
  • Apply business acumen to analyze and identify risks and opportunities while defining the scope of work
  • Recommend specific components for solutions that will work well together and quickly guide the business away from combinations that create conflict and incompatibilities
  • Act as a voice of the customer to define, prioritize and suggest features/products that provide business value
  • Ability to create and maintain comprehensible and structured documentation
  • Knowledge of SDLC methodologies such as Agile a plus
  • Interest in current/emerging technologies and their applicability to create business solutions
  • Microsoft office suite and Mural


What you Bring:

• 5-7 years of hands-on experience as a product owner/manager related primarily to software projects

• Bachelors or higher in a field related to Product Management, CS or Business

• Creative can-do attitude that is proactive and not afraid to try something, fail and pivot

• Ability to articulate concepts in a simple manner to improve understanding at all work levels

• Attention to detail with the ability to start simple and iterative build on an idea or project

• Comfortable within uncertainty and ability to shift between divergent and convergent thinking

• Understanding how to connect technology to real-world value to improve the Customer Experience, the Associate Experience and improve productivity for the Jobs to be Done
