People-led, tech-powered. That’s what Walmart Global Tech delivers every day, while helping people save money and live better. And that’s not just for customers. Living better is also a goal the company has for associates.

With 2.1 million associates around the world, Walmart associates make an impact that is truly global. Working for Walmart Global Tech means the opportunity to change the lives of millions of customers and associates through innovation. And that innovation is only possible when every associate knows they’re valued and, most importantly, feels like they belong.

One of the ways Walmart brings belonging to life is through Associate Resource Groups, where associates find the opportunity to connect, learn, and grow their careers. The Women in Tech group, co-founded by Amitha Krishnappa, Senior Director of Business and Operations Analytics at Walmart, is a chapter of the Women’s Resource Community Associate Resource Group.

“We are passionate. We come together. When you go to these groups, you connect with people that you don't meet in your everyday jobs. You talk about important topics or issues and find a solution we may not have thought of individually,” she said.

“The first thing these groups do is bring a feeling of belonging. We connect with other people in Walmart that have similar backgrounds or passions as us. It takes intentional relationship building when you want to make connections in different parts of the company. These grassroots resource groups help do that, and they also help shape and bring solutions that otherwise wouldn't be possible.”

Walmart has a wide variety of groups to encourage belonging, including an Asian Pacific Association Network, a PRIDE group, and many more.

Walmart also engages with groups outside the company to create new opportunities for associates.

“We go to conferences like the Grace Hopper celebration and other ‘women of color’ conferences, where we find a lot of female technologists with varied backgrounds,” said Amitha.

Thousands of technologists, front-end and back-end engineers, data scientists, and data engineers work at Walmart, and there’s no shortage of opportunities to build a career – no matter where you start or where you want to go. Walmart’s scale and business, combined with its culture of growth and belonging, create opportunities that aren’t available elsewhere.

“You can work on almost any business problem you want and know you’re having a global impact. You could be in supply chain or looking at eCommerce. Or you could be in the stores looking at the tech from that view – how do we improve the experience for customers and associates? The possibilities are immense and you’re bringing solutions that will touch millions of customers.”

What makes that possible? A culture where all ideas are considered, associates know they’re valued, and everyone feels like they belong. Want to start your Walmart journey? Visit wmtcareers.com/GlobalTechCareers to learn more.
