Job Details

The Business Analyst is responsible for engaging with the business on behalf of the IT project team. The Business Analyst strives to understand business needs and define technology and service requirements to maximize the delivery of business value. The Business Analyst translates business needs into requirements that IT can use to design and develop solutions. The Business Analyst is responsible for ensuring the required outcomes are built, tested, and delivered. The Business Analyst also develops the business case to ensure benefits align with objectives.

The SAP Business Analyst will provide support for SAP integration needs with DX systems, with a knowledge base in SAP FICO and HCM modules. The SAP Business Analyst will be responsible for the gathering of requirements for new SAP APIs and interfaces, as well as modifications to existing interfaces, and will see the enhancement process through from start to finish. They will be the centralized coordinator for SAP Integration communications, changes, and testing. This position interacts with users and technical teams.

Responsibilities:
  • Supports pre-project business problem elicitation, feasibility, and business case definition.
    • Works with the business to determine the issue(s) that need to be solved, or the opportunity to do things differently.
    • Develops the business case, in particular ensuring benefits align to strategic and tactical business objectives.
    • Supports business, technical, and financial feasibility assessments.
  • Gathers business requirements.
    • Works with the business to capture and document requirements (functional and non-functional), using techniques such as workshop facilitation, document analysis, sites visit, use cases, scenario modeling, and task/workflow analysis.
    • Ensures business requirements are concise, complete, specific, and unambiguous, and that they are aligned to the strategic and tactical goals of the project and the business.
    • Combines all business requirements into a clear, managed, prioritized backlog (agile) or business requirements document (waterfall).
    • Refines business requirements to a sufficient level of detail to allow Architects and Software Engineers to design and implement appropriate solutions.
    • Provides refined requirements into project iterations in time to allow design/delivery to commence.
    • Manages the scope and traceability of requirements throughout the project lifecycle, ensuring that they are understood by the project team and met by the delivered solution.
  • Performs process modeling.
    • Discovers and documents the as-is process by applying various process modeling techniques.
    • Identifies and presents high-level solution options for the business.
    • Designs and models the to-be process, performing gap analysis and identifying areas for improvement.
    • Works with the Business Architect, ensuring business processes are aligned with the business and IT architecture.
    • Reviews and signs off on solution designs, ensuring business requirements are verified, validated, and delivered.
  • Ensures requirements traceability through testing.
    • Works with the QA team to provide business input into test strategy, test plans, test conditions, and UAT plans.
    • Coordinates UAT with the business.
    • Reviews and signs off on test scripts to ensure requirements are fully tested and met by the delivered solution.
  • Provides business change management support.
    • Ensures the benefits, impact, and release of all changes are tracked managed, and communicated to relevant stakeholders.
    • Ensures end users and IT support teams are fully trained to use, support, and maintain the application/solution.
  • Provides project management support.
    • Provides subject matter expertise on the business unit and associated processes and systems to all relevant team members.
    • Assists the Project Manager in identifying and managing risks, issues, and dependencies.
    • Assists the team in resolving questions related to requirements or processes.
    • Delivers the required documentation during each stage of the project.
    • Supports the third-party/hardware/software selection process by providing input into the RFI and RFP and assisting in the assessment of responses against requirements.
    • Supports the review of contracts drawn up with any third-party suppliers to ensure that they accurately reflect the needs of the business.
    • Supports the Project Manager in post-implementation reviews and incorporates lessons learned into future work.
Basic Qualifications:
  • Four-year degree in field such as Information Technology, Business, or similar field or related work experience.
  • 3-5+ years of proven experience as a Business Analyst working on SAP (or similar ERP).
  • Experience in applying business analysis techniques, such as information-gathering methods, requirements documentation, process modeling, and process mapping.
  • Good understanding of all stages in a project lifecycle and delivery approaches, e.g. waterfall, agile, etc.
  • Extensive experience in technical business design and analysis.
  • Independent worker who is organized, and able to self-manage and keep track of deadlines.
  • Ability to multitask, prioritize, and handle a high volume of requests.
  • Ability to develop good working relationships with both Business partners and IT partners, who are located across multiple time zones and various countries.
  • Ability to gather and document requirements for enhancements, obtain necessary approvals, and coordinate with the users, and internal and external Information Technology Teams on the design, development, and testing of the solution.
  • Ability to read and reference technical specifications.
  • Ability to read and reference technical data mapping documents.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of QA test cycles and processes (ALM or HP Quality Center experience is preferred). Must be able to troubleshoot both technical and data errors during testing.
  • Possess Strong communication skills to coordinate with team members, vendors, and management.
  • Coordinate and ensure timely resolution of open tickets with Enterprise Tech.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • UI and query tools.
  • Experience with APIs/ interfaces/SAP Integration, including IDOCS, TRANSIT, and backend interface configuration in SA.
  • Knowledge of SAP job scheduling, and variant creation.
  • Familiarity with SAP HR Infotypes or Financial back-end tables and t-codes.
  • Familiarity with Financial Systems or Human Resources Information Solutions (HRIS).
  • Understanding of data translation and middleware tools.
  • Experience with File Transfer Protocol (FTP and sFTP) and encryption.
  • SAP certifications are a plus.
