Job Summary

General Atomics (GA), and its affiliated companies, is one of the world's leading resources for high-technology systems development ranging from the nuclear fuel cycle to remotely piloted aircraft, airborne sensors, and advanced electric, electronic, wireless and laser technologies.

We are seeking a highly capable and experienced Systems Engineer V to lead and contribute to the design, integration, testing, and deployment of advanced systems for defense applications. This mid-to-senior level role demands deep cross-disciplinary knowledge across hardware, software, RF systems, mechanical design, and electrical subsystems, combined with a proven ability to work in complex, team-oriented environments.

The successful candidate will serve as a key technical leader within the engineering team, responsible for mentoring junior engineers, guiding integration efforts, and developing innovative solutions to complex field and system-level challenges. This role also supports field demonstrations, deployments, and customer engagements.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Lead or contribute to the design, integration, and verification of complex multi-domain defense systems across RF, electrical, mechanical, and software components.
  • Work collaboratively with diverse engineering teams to ensure system-level alignment and interoperability.
  • Support and sometimes lead field demonstrations, customer site deployments, and post-installation validation.
  • Translate customer requirements and operational needs into technical architectures, interface control documents, and system configurations.
  • Design and oversee cable harnesses, power distribution, and electronic subassemblies.
  • Provide hands-on support for RF systems, tactical radios, embedded electronics, and mechanical fixture/tooling solutions.
  • Review and generate engineering documentation, including block diagrams, system schematics, mechanical drawings, and BOMs.
  • Drive technical resolution of integration issues during lab builds and field tests.
  • Mentor junior engineers and contribute to internal knowledge-sharing and process improvement efforts.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable DoD standards, including environmental ruggedization, EMI/EMC, and cybersecurity guidelines.

We recognize and appreciate the value and contributions of individuals with diverse backgrounds and experiences and welcome all qualified individuals to apply.
