Our government client is looking for a Junior Firewall Engineer to join their team.

Due to client requirement, applicants must be willing and able to work on a w2 basis. For our w2 consultants, we offer a great benefits package that includes Medical, Dental, and Vision benefits, 401k with company matching, and life insurance.

Pay Rate: $45.00 - $50.00/hr on W2

Skills, experience, and other compensable factors will be taken into account when determining pay rate. The pay range provided in this posting is a reflection of a W2 hourly rate; other employment options may be available that may result in pay outside of the provided pay range.

W2 employees of Eliassen Group who are regularly scheduled to work 30 or more hours per week are eligible for the following benefits: medical (choice of 3 plans), dental, vision, pre-tax accounts, other voluntary benefits including life and disability insurance, 401(k) with match, and sick time if required by law in the worked-in state/locality.


Responsibilities of the Junior Firewall Engineer:
  • Deploy, configure, and manage firewalls to secure critical infrastructure and data
  • Work will include firewalls such as Palo Alto, CISCO ASA and Checkpoint
  • Create and maintain security policies and rules in accordance with best practices, organizational requirements, and risk management frameworks
  • Perform regular system upgrades, patches system enhancements, and performance monitoring
  • Collaborate with the IT security team to devise and execute a cohesive network security strategy
  • Document all configurations, modifications, and security policies regarding the firewall infrastructure
  • Provide technical support and guidance to team members and other employees on network security concerns and firewall functionalities
  • Stay informed of the latest cybersecurity threats, trends, technologies, and automation practices
Requirements of the Junior Firewall Engineer:
  • A Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field and at least 3 years of hands-on experience in firewall administration
  • Comprehensive understanding of networking protocols and firewall technologies
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to manage complex security systems
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills
  • Capable of working effectively in a team environment and with cross-functional teams
  • Ability to document processes and procedures clearly and accurately
