Description:
In this position you will be working in teams that include software, development operations, system, network, and test engineers to support a mission critical global satellite network. Your duties will include developing and maintaining GitOps infrastructure as code repositories for OpenShift and Kubernetes deployments to cloud and on-premises, development, test, and production environments. Part of your job will include maintenance of the OpenShift clusters, their dependencies and security posture and updating infrastructure software and firmware versions. When COTS software and configuration is updated by third parties, you will be responsible for updating GitOps repos and testing deployment into development, staging and integration environments. You will also be responsible for documenting deployment plans and procedures to deploy infrastructure updates to Kubernetes and OpenShift environments in the cloud as well as on-premises environments.
This is a contract-to-hire opportunity. Applicants must be willing and able to work on a W2 basis and convert to FTE following contract duration. Responsibilities:
- 5+ years experience working as a cloud engineer, software engineer or development operations engineer.
- Work experience in designing, setting up, managing and maintaining cloud development and test environments in Amazon Web Services, Microsoft Azure, Google Cloud etc.
- Experience setting up, managing and maintaining development and test setups utilizing containerization platforms such as Docker, Kubernetes and OpenShift.
- Working knowledge in Virtualization technologies and experience using and setting up environments using tools such as OpenStack, ESXI, etc.
- Good working knowledge and understanding of the TCP/IP protocol and network stack
- Network design and network management experience especially for cloud, containerization, and virtualization setups to include IP subnetting, routing, access lists, firewall rules, DNS, DHCP etc.
- Support developers and system engineers maintain cloud and on-premises Kubernetes and OpenShift environments.
- Review new system and security requirements on cloud infrastructure components and develop appropriate remediation steps.
- Deploy configuration and security updates to on-premises and cloud infrastructure clusters and services.
- Maintain GitOps infrastructure as code repositories and update them as necessary to incorporate new software and operating system updates.
Experience Requirements:
- Experience working with and developing in OpenShift and Kubernetes environments.
- Work experience on maintaining GitOps infrastructure as code repositories.
- Working knowledge of satellite communication systems.
- Familiarity with Cyber Security, IA, and RMF including scanning for and remediating vulnerabilities and findings within cloud and containerization environments.
- Experience with or working knowledge of RMF and/or IA security principles.
- Experience using, developing, and testing high-level scripts preferably with bash and/or python languages.
Education Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in CS, CE, EE, IT, or equivalent experience.
- Ability to design, setup, configure, and maintain on-premises private cloud and containerization environments using a selection of servers and network infrastructure devices.
- Ability to travel 10%.
