Network Operations & Configuration
  • Provide expertise and troubleshoot Layer 2 & 3 network operations (e.g., STP, VLANs).
  • Support overlay/underlay network architectures; ensure correct MTU sizing, redundancy (e.g., link aggregation, port channel, LACP), and high availability.
  • Configure and maintain routing protocols as needed (e.g., OSPF, IS-IS, BGP) especially in hybrid or multi-fabric environments.
  • Experience engineering in a Unified Optical Network (UON) ring topology.

Firewall, Load Balancing, and Security Controls

  • Participate in disaster recovery planning, capacity planning, and scaling discussions.
  • Support change management processes: approval, documentation, testing, rollback planning.

Documentation & Knowledge Transfer
  • Maintain up-to-date network diagrams, topology maps, configuration standards, runbooks, and escalation procedures.
  • Provide training or mentorship to other team members; enable knowledge transfer.
  • Recommend best practices and continuous improvement strategies.

  • Experience with Criminal Justice Systems, CJIS compliance, CAD systems and deployment of mobile Police Hardware.
  • Familiarity with Cisco hardware and software, especially in enterprise or data center environments.
  • Competence in automation, orchestration, or scripting tools (Ansible, Python, etc.).
  • Understanding of monitoring/telemetry tools (Prometheus, Grafana, SNMP, etc.) for proactive network health monitoring.
  • Exposure to IPv6, SDN (software-defined networking), overlay technologies (VXLAN etc.).
