This is a backend-focused QA automation and testing infrastructure role.


Looking for experienced server-side engineers (Java or Node.js) who:

Have strong automation testing and integration testing experience.

Understand data management for testing (mocking, creating QA data pipelines, validating data).

Know how to improve CI/CD workflows and standardize testing practices across many microservices (170+).

Can help modernize deployment processes (e.g., canary releases, progressive delivery).


Essentially:


They're building the testing and automation foundation for all backend systems - not writing new app features.


Will be doing a lot of unit testing and then integration testing.


Location/Address: REMOTE
Remote Flexibility: 100% remote, 9am-5pm EST are core hours

Duration: Contract through July 2026, but this is a mult-year initiative. Also opportunity to convert to an FTE

Interview Process: 1st round 30 minute Teams video with hiring manager, 2-part panel interview with tech team (all virtual)


Requirements
Required Skills & Experience

* 5+ years of backend/server-side engineering experience (Java and/or Node.js)
* 3+ years of experience designing and implementing integration and functional test suites
* Experience defining and implementing testing best practices, automation strategies, and code coverage standards
* Strong understanding of test data management, including data creation, mocking strategies, test data pipelines, injection, and validation for QA and integration environments.
* Ability to work across multiple systems and divisions to align on testing standards and frameworks.
* Strong understanding of software architecture and infrastructure fundamentals
* Experience designing or contributing to CI/CD pipelines (e.g., Jenkins, GitLab CI).
* Excellent problem-solving, collaboration, and documentation skills.
Plusses:
* Familiarity with large enterprise environments (e.g., multiple lines of business or data boundaries).
* Prior exposure to mocking frameworks and data-driven test architectures.
Intangibles:
* Calm demeanor, excellent communicator
* Experience mentoring more junior team members
Plusses:
* Experience with agile testing practices (ATDD, BDD, SBE)

* Hands-on experience with AWS services (e.g., Lambda, Aurora, DocDB, API Gateway)

* Familiarity with observability tools (Grafana, CloudWatch)
* Exposure to DORA metrics and DevOps performance tracking
* Experience with intelligent QA data discovery (e.g., log scraping, AI-assisted test data identification)
* Background in infrastructure or developer experience (DevEx) initiatives
* Experience with domain-driven design and service interoperability
* Knowledge of progressive delivery
