Now Hiring: Electronic Security Technologist
Location: Washington, D.C. (80-90% Onsite) | Contract
Be the Backbone of Secure Infrastructure for Critical Transportation Systems
About the Role:
We are seeking an experienced Electronic Security Technologist to support physical and electronic security design assessments for major infrastructure and transportation environments. This is a highly technical and hands-on role focused on site security audits, design validation, system testing, and secure project implementation.
This position is DC-based (80-90%), with occasional fieldwork (10-20%), and requires your own hardware (laptop, monitor, etc.). Access to secure systems will be provided via a virtual desktop environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct physical and electronic security vulnerability assessments and design reviews for new builds, retrofits, and redevelopments.
- Support implementation and construction phases, ensuring security system compliance and effectiveness.
- Execute system acceptance testing and validation post-installation.
- Prepare detailed Concepts of Operation (CONOPS) for surveillance, access control, intrusion detection, and other mitigation systems.
- Maintain consistent, high-quality communication with project managers and stakeholders across disciplines.
Minimum Qualifications:
- 10+ years experience designing and implementing physical/electronic security systems for:
- Commercial Offices
- Industrial Facilities
- Transportation Systems or Infrastructure
- Hands-on experience with:
- Video Surveillance (CCTV)
- Physical Access Control Systems (PACS)
- Intrusion Detection Systems (IDS)
- Perimeter Security Technologies
- Physical & Psychological Deterrents
- Certifications Required:
- PSP or CPP (ASIS International)
- CPD (Crime Prevention Through Environmental Design - NICP)
Preferred Certifications:
- IP Surveillance Cameras: Axis, Avigilon, Sony, Bosch
- Video Management Systems: Genetec, Avigilon, Milestone
- PACS Platforms: Lenel/S2, Software House, Galaxy
- Familiarity with codes/standards: NEC, NFPA 70, ADA, ICC, ASCE
- Understanding of passenger rail systems and related security protocols
Soft Skills & Communication:
- Strong interpersonal and stakeholder communication skills
- Ability to manage multiple concurrent projects
- Time management, organization, and analytical thinking
- Confidence working independently in cross-functional teams
- Clear communicator especially around technical and security concepts
