Summary:

The team's mission is to accelerate knowledge work, automate workflows, and anticipate user needs through Copilot, while ensuring product quality, reliability, and scalability as usage grows. Dedicated Program Manager role for Copilot Chat and Search responsible for coordinating releases across all supported audiences, form factors, and endpoints. This PM will own the end-to-end release management lifecycle for BizChat (Copilot Chat) and Copilot Search. The Program Manager's primary goal is to plan, schedule, and orchestrate all releases for Copilot Chat & Search, working across multiple feature crews and partner teams to ensure smooth deployments.

Job Responsibilities:

Cross-Functional Project Tracking: Maintain a centralized view of all ongoing Copilot Chat & Search feature rollouts and dependencies across teams. They will track cross-team projects using Azure DevOps (ADO) Boards and Queries, leveraging the unified ADO backlog already in place for BizChat.

will provide one clear window into release readiness across all supported endpoints and audiences. To this end, they

Will maintain a living release tracker that tracks feature availability and rollout schedules per audience and endpoints and drive accountability with the team to keep it up to date. This repository becomes the single source of truth for release information that we and partners can rely on for the latest status.

Driving Shiproom & BPR Cadence: Serve as the DRI for coordinating weekly shiproom meetings and Bi-Weekly Product reviews for Copilot Chat & Search. The Release Manager will schedule and chair release meetings to review open issues, bugs, and upcoming launch checkpoints for each segment and endpoint. Importantly, this PM will be the single point of contact that leadership and partner teams can rely on "to always have the complete view on what's shipping, when, and with what usage projections". They coordinate closely with release engineers to understand code branches, feature flags, and deployment schedules to different rings/environments.

Status Reporting and Communication: Provide comprehensive reporting on release status to leadership and all teams, with thorough notes and follow-ups to closure on action items. After each shiproom or key discussion, the Release Manager will publish detailed minutes, decisions made, and owners for any follow-up tasks.

Follow-ups and Closure: The Release Manager will own follow-through on all release-related action items. This role essentially acts as the "air traffic controller" for Copilot Chat/Search releases, monitoring every moving part until it lands safely.

Risk Management and Readiness: Proactively identify and manage risks to release success. The Release Manager evaluates any factor that might hinder the project scope, quality, or timeline - e.g. new dependencies, late-breaking bugs, performance regressions - and drives mitigation plans.

Process Improvement: Beyond managing individual releases, the Program Manager will work to continuously improve our release processes and tooling. They will analyze current pain points (e.g. manual steps, communication gaps) and drive initiatives for efficiency such as improving ADO queries for cross-team visibility, refining the shiproom and BPR formats and improving the gate process for BCX. Over time, this role should help move the organization toward more streamlined, predictable releases, supporting the shift to a DevOps/Continuous Delivery culture.

Skills:

Verbal and written communication skills, problem-solving skills, attention to detail and interpersonal skills.

Ability to work independently and manage one's time.

Knowledge of production processes, quality control, costs and other techniques for maximizing the effective manufacture and distribution of goods.

Knowledge of business and management principles involved in strategic planning, resource allocation, and production methods.
