Role: Senior Network Engineer

Location: Las Vegas NV

Employment type: Contract

We re seeking a Senior Network Engineer to serve as a technical escalation point for complex network incidents and to drive the development and delivery of enterprise networking platforms across on-premises and cloud environments. This individual will work independently, provide technical leadership, and partner closely with stakeholders to ensure solutions align with best practices and operational standards.

They need someone strong on Layer 2 (STP), OSPF, and BGP, who can get involved "right off the bat."

Responsibilities

  • Support project execution, technology planning, and budgeting, collaborating cross-functionally with minimal supervision.
  • Monitor and maintain network systems, ensuring availability, integrity, and proper log and backup validation.
  • Lead security operations, including vulnerability mitigation, account management, and compliance.
  • Provide Tier III support, including capacity planning, performance tuning, and root-cause analysis.
  • Mentor and guide team members, promoting a positive and collaborative work environment.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve complex network issues across cloud and on-premise infrastructure.
  • Participate in architecture and design reviews to align with organizational standards.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor s degree (or equivalent) and 5+ years of experience in enterprise networking, security, or incident response.
  • Strong background in managing large-scale physical and cloud network environments.
  • Hands-on experience with firewalls and infrastructure technologies (e.g., Palo Alto, Cisco, Juniper, Fortinet).
  • Automation/scripting experience using Python, PowerShell, or Ansible.
  • Knowledge of ITIL processes and strong interpersonal skills.
  • Preferred: industry certifications (e.g., CCNA, CCNP, CISSP, Security+).

Preferred Skills:

  • Experience with network architecture and design.
  • Familiarity with enterprise monitoring tools and observability (e.g. SNMP, NetFlow).
  • Prior experience in capacity planning and performance optimization.
