Job Description

You will be a senior member of the engineering team that builds the Oracle Managed Kubernetes (OMK) platform at Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI). OMK is Oracle Cloud Infrastructure's (OCI) enterprise-grade Kubernetes service that provides a managed, scalable, and secure environment to deploy containerized applications. It is built on the open-source Kubernetes engine and designed to simplify operations, improve performance, and provide deep integration with the broader OCI ecosystem. Typical activities will range from leading design and discovery discussions, reviewing the roadmap with stakeholders, prototyping, and hands-on software development.

Self-motivated and possessing a wide range of skills and experience, you should be able to understand business needs, work closely with product owners, and strike a good balance between business goals and technical implementations. You are expected to be independent and contribute to a wide range of high-impact projects across the organization.

Responsibilities

Responsibilities:
  • Design, develop, implement, and support Oracle Managed Kubernetes backend APIs, SDKs, CLIs, and various other components.
  • Implement high-performance software systems engineered to support millions of queries per second.
  • Analyze & interpret business needs and develop technical specs and designs.
  • Troubleshoot production issues with engineering and support teams.
  • Train other members of the team to ensure knowledge transfer is occurring so that there are no single points of failure or knowledge gaps within the team.
  • Help ensure team productivity
  • Participate in testing, security, and compliance processes as needed.
  • Build and maintain tools for deployments, security patching, and vulnerability management
  • Contribute to operations and improve service health KPIs on an ongoing basis

Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or Computer Science or equivalent work experience and self-study.
  • Advanced degree is a plus
  • Demonstrated ability to deliver the items listed in the major responsibilities section.
  • At least 3 years of experience in application development. Specific experience with scaling backend data systems a plus.
  • Expertise in Java, Python, C/C++, GO (two or more preferred)
  • Knowledge of databases such as PostgreSQL, MySQL, DBaaS, NoSQL
  • Experience deploying and operating services that run on Linux systems with 100% uptime goals.
  • General knowledge of the following categories of network systems: Multiprocessing, Threading, Distributed Systems, Load Balancing, and High Availability.
  • Experience with root cause analysis, monitoring, alarming, and observability patterns of large-scale distributed systems
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to work with minimum direction.
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a cross-team organization

US: Hiring Range in USD from: $79,800 to $178,100 per annum. May be eligible for bonus and equity.

Oracle maintains broad salary ranges for its roles in order to account for variations in knowledge, skills, experience, market conditions and locations, as well as reflect Oracle's differing products, industries and lines of business.
Candidates are typically placed into the range based on the preceding factors as well as internal peer equity.
