Job Details
We are seeking an experienced AWS Cloud Operations Engineer to manage and support our client s AWS cloud environment. This position focuses entirely on cloud platform management and operational activities, with minimal to no DevOps development responsibilities. The ideal candidate will be comfortable handling day-to-day operational tasks, troubleshooting issues across OS and cloud layers, and ensuring the stability, performance, and compliance of the cloud infrastructure. Relocation to Rockville, MD is preferred but not required.
Key Skills & Qualifications:
- 5 8+ years of experience in cloud operations, preferably in AWS environments.
- Strong expertise in AWS services, cloud resource management, and operational best practices.
- Hands-on experience with ServiceNow or similar ITSM tools.
- Solid understanding of Windows and Linux OS troubleshooting.
- Experience with patching, backups, DR planning, and RCA processes.
- Familiarity with cloud cost optimization strategies and tools.
- Ability to manage cloud migrations and resource lifecycle processes.
- Exposure to automation scripting (Python, PowerShell, or similar).
- Strong attention to detail and adherence to documentation standards.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage end-to-end AWS cloud operations, including hands-on daily tasks.
- Handle ServiceNow tickets related to OS-level and cloud-level troubleshooting, performance issues, and vulnerability remediation.
- Ensure compliance with defined SLAs and operational processes.
- Create, update, and implement change controls and contribute to Root Cause Analysis (RCA) reports.
- Commission and decommission cloud resources based on project and operational needs.
- Support planned Disaster Recovery (DR) exercises with cross-functional application teams.
- Perform environment cleanups, cost optimization assessments, and related improvements.
- Assist with cloud migrations and site externalization initiatives.
- Manage backups and patching for instances and cloud resources.
- Provide strong troubleshooting for Windows and Linux OS environments.
- Develop automation scripts and contribute to Proofs of Concept (PoCs).
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date documentation to meet compliance and audit standards.
