CICS Engineer with MQ [Level 5 support / engineer resources]

Years of experience: 15+ (Level 5)

• Team: Enterprise Z (EZ), which is the backbone of clients IBM z/OS platform
• Weekend: Every 6 weeks (Round Robin)

Must:

Tech:

• Can you install CICS along with any ancillary product
• Need this level of sys programming/engineering perspective of the product and how to support it in the environment into Development, QA and into Production
• Are you able to help the developers with their CICS related requests.
• When an application team wants to utilize CICS in a mainframe environment
• Create new resources within CICS, develop code, etc
• Can you action ^ resource requests on behalf of the applications teams and manage them
• Monitor and automation
• Monitor: Are you familiar with how CICS should function within an environment - is it failing and how should it be resolved with the product itself.
• Automate: Can you build tools to detect there is a problem. Automate the things they do as a team. Can you automate functions so the team is not manually actioning them.
• Monitoring Tool: Broadcomm (but can come in with any tool)
• Automation Scripting: REXX, COBOL or Assembler - (if they have java, perl or python that works)
• Need to have a candidate who has the mindset to AUTOMATE

Soft skills:

• Clear Verbal Communication Skills!
• Can we understand the candidate in what they're saying!
• Logical thinking
• "What is the latest production outage you were involved in."
• Describe the problem and how did you solve it? (will ask in int)

Plus:

• MQ Experience (Fernando manages both MQ and CICS teams
• Previous application development experience useful for bridging system and coding perspectives.

You re essentially the person ensuring that the financial transaction systems some of the most critical at the firm run reliably, fast, and securely. It s a deeply technical backend role that requires both hands-on mainframe expertise and broad communication across IT teams.
