A large utility based corporation is looking to hire a Senior Analyst, Technology Infrastructure on a contract to hire basis (CTH). The Sr. Tech Infrastructure Analyst is responsible for performing and leading efforts in planning, configuring, testing, and supporting technical infrastructure components (hardware, software, network) utilizing I/S practices, methods and tools within the Technical Services department of the Information Services (I/S) area. This position may provide task direction for others on assigned projects of any complexity and scope.
The candidate must have:
- Senior Network (BGP, Load Balancer)
- Support Arista, Datacenter, F5 (WAF, Load Balancer, DNS)
POSITION DIMENSIONS
This position may have up to four direct reports, which may include any combination of exempt and non-exempt positions. This position is not responsible for budgets. The incumbent lead analyst level employees on specific assignments. The incumbent infrequently exchanges information with officers and frequently exchanges information with professional level personnel, members of division management teams, department managers and outside parties.
ESSENTIAL JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
- Lead and perform work with Application Services, project managers, and support group personnel and/or business areas to determine technical requirements (including performance and capacity) for topics assigned (hardware, databases, end user devices, security, backup, retention and recovery, application integration, network, other), analyze alternatives using Company methodology (cost/benefit, risk, etc.) and determine implementation schedule targets
- Confirm use of existing infrastructure to meet requirements, or work with Technical Architecture Services to identify needs for new types of infrastructure or services and identify infrastructure and services to be retired or discontinued
- Determine impact of requirements on technology recovery infrastructure and receive confirmation from Control Operations and Planning Support
- Lead and perform research and evaluation of product and service alternatives for topics assigned (including I/S tools) using appropriate methodology and document recommendations, including vendor business and cost analysis, as appropriate
- Prepare or review technology component specifications and assure cost-effectiveness and compatibility with I/S architectures and practices for security and technology recovery
- Lead and perform efforts in configuration, testing, implementation and production turnover of technical infrastructure products and tools as assigned (hardware platforms, operating systems, virtualization, data management, network, databases, security, other)
- Review or maintain I/S records, including asset, configuration and vendor or government licensing records
- Coordinate with project managers and other departments to provide infrastructure product training for end users and support groups
- Develop standards and department procedures
- Provide input/oversight in the department s activities/responsibilities including planning, scheduling, staffing, monitoring, traveling and reporting
- Lead efforts in management of life cycle support (installation, maintenance, relocation, decommissioning and disposal) of assigned infrastructure
- Develop or maintain capacity plans for assigned infrastructure components (processors, storage, network, other)
- Provide input to Service Level Objectives
- Provide approval for production implementations for areas of responsibility
- Lead or perform problem diagnosis and resolution on a timely basis and participate in "postmortem" reviews, as assigned
- Lead or participate in the analysis, prioritization and development of change requests, upgrades and patches, and maintenance actions, assuring appropriate coordination, communication, approval, and post-implementation verification
- Provide on-call support when assigned
- Participate in technology recovery and departmental emergency management planning, rehearsals and execution as assigned
- Communicate with and participate effectively in project teams, work groups, support groups, business areas, and with suppliers, as appropriate taking lead roles, keeping department and project team personnel informed on progress and problems
- Plan team and individual work to achieve expected scope, schedule and deliverables
- Review documentation prepared by others and monitor timely completion, as assigned
- Develop, maintain and ensure effective use of I/S strategic plans policies, practices, methodology, standards and tools
- Design, conduct and participate in training for I/S personnel
- Be a source of knowledge and expertise in one or more functional and/or technical topics and prepare briefings and research reports as appropriate
- Gain appropriate knowledge of the business processes and organization in the areas being supported
- Participate in negotiating and renewing product and service contracts, and monitor performance against contract terms and maintain relationships with assigned suppliers
- Perform related duties and responsibilities as assigned
- Regular and predictable attendance is a condition of employment and is an essential function of the job
QUALIFICATIONS
- There are clear precedents and practices which the incumbent uses as guidelines to determine how this job is performed.
- This position requires five to seven years of relevant work experience.
- The primary requirements for this position are technical skills and experience with Microsoft Windows server and desktop operating system technologies.
- Incumbents performing activities requiring government, regulatory or vendor certification must keep those certifications current.
- A bachelor s degree from an accredited university or progress towards is preferred.
- Industry recognized certification(s) relevant to responsibilities are preferred.
- Previous experience with Microsoft Exchange, SharePoint and System Center technologies are preferred.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Frequent use of eye, hand, and finger coordination enabling the use of office machinery; visual capacity to read policies and procedures, rules, regulations, reports, statistical information, computer monitors, hard copy print and other documents encountered during the course of work; oral and auditory capacity enabling communication at conversational levels in person, during presentations and/or over the telephone; mobility sufficient to safely move within an office environment and travel to different sites inside and outside service territories; ability to lift and carry routine office supplies; stamina sufficient to maintain efficiency throughout the course of the work day.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
Primary work environment is a climate controlled office setting. Work may involve some travel to various locations inside and outside service territories.
