Primary Location: Jersey City, New Jersey
V-Soft Consulting is currently hiring for a PostgreSQL Database Administrator (DBA) for our premier client in Jersey City, New Jersey.
Education and Experience »
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field.
- 5–6 years of experience as a Postgres DBA in a production environment.
- MongoDB experience is a plus.
- Experience with logical and physical replication, high availability, and failover strategies.
- Experience in a financial services or regulated environment preferred.
- Strong knowledge of SQL and PostgreSQL internals, configuration, and administration.
- Skilled in database performance tuning and query optimization.
- Familiarity with Linux environments and scripting (e.g., Bash, Python).
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
Preferred Skills:
- Knowledge of pgAdmin, Patroni, pgBouncer, pgBackRest, or similar Postgres tooling.
- Experience with cloud platforms (AWS RDS, GCP Cloud SQL, or Azure Database for PostgreSQL).
- Familiarity with DevOps practices, CI/CD tools, and version control systems.
- Understanding of data security and auditing best practices.
WHAT YOU’LL DO:
Job Responsibilities:
- Install, configure, and maintain PostgreSQL databases in production and non-production environments.
- Design and manage database replication, backup, and disaster recovery strategies.
- Create and maintain documentation for standard procedures, processes, and configurations.
- Implement monitoring and alerting to ensure database health and availability.
- Partner with application and infrastructure teams to support development and deployment workflows.
- Troubleshoot complex issues related to availability, performance, and data consistency.
- Perform tuning and optimization of queries, indexes, and performance parameters.
- Ensure adherence to security, compliance, and data governance standards.
- Participate in on-call support rotations and respond to critical incidents.
