Description:

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Full-stack Senior Power BI Developer to play a pivotal role in designing, developing, and managing enterprise-level business intelligence solutions. This role focuses on leveraging the full capabilities of the Power BI Service and associated Microsoft Azure data ecosystem to deliver high-performance, secure, and actionable analytics. The ideal candidate will be responsible for the entire lifecycle of creating and maintaining high-quality, large-scale data models in Power BI that are fast, reliable, and adhere to organizational technical and governance standards.

Required Skills:

Power BI Service and Semantic Model Management
  • Analyze, design, develop, and optimize Power BI semantic models (datasets) for enterprise analytics, focusing on scalability, performance, and alignment with agency data architecture.
  • Configure and manage datasets, dataflows, and workspaces in the Power BI Service, strictly adhering to agency data governance and information security standards.
  • Implement and maintain reliable data refresh schedules, workspace permissions, and deployment pipelines consistent with established operational procedures

Data Source Integration and Modeling
  • Connect to and integrate diverse data sources including Azure Data Lake, Synapse Dedicated SQL Pool, Azure SQL Database, legacy SSAS Tabular Models, SQL Server stored procedures, shared datasets, and Excel spreadsheets.
  • Apply advanced data modeling techniques (e.g., star schema, hierarchies) and utilize Power Query (M language) for efficient, complex data transformation and preparation.
  • Optimize data architecture for query performance and promote semantic model reuse across organizational reporting layers.
  • Possess a solid understanding of dimensional modeling (star/snowflake schema) and data warehousing concepts.

Report Development and Optimization
  • Develop compelling and interactive dashboards and analytical reports that deliver actionable insights aligned with program mission objectives.
  • Author, test, and optimize DAX measures for high-performance calculations and aggregations within semantic models.
  • Implement and manage Row-Level Security (RLS) and role-based access controls within the Power BI Service to ensure compliance with federal data protection standards.

Power BI Report Builder and Paginated Reporting
  • Utilize Power BI Report Builder to design and deploy precise Paginated Reports that meet strict layout and print requirements for operational and compliance reporting.
  • Perform migration and modernization of legacy paginated reports (e.g., SSRS RDL files) to the Power BI Service, ensuring functional equivalency and performance optimization.
  • Integrate paginated reports with Power BI datasets, SQL Server data sources, and Power BI Premium capacity environments.
  • Maintain accurate documentation of data sources, RDL configurations, and report publishing pipelines.

Automation, Deployment, and Governance
  • Experience with automated deployment methodologies (CI/CD, Azure DevOps, PowerShell, Power BI APIs).
  • Employ Power BI REST APIs, PowerShell scripting, or Azure DevOps pipelines to automate report deployments, refresh cycles, and access configurations.
  • Support and implement Continuous Integration/Continuous Deployment (CI/CD) practices to streamline updates, manage version control, and ensure release consistency across development, test, and production environments.

Collaboration and Documentation
  • Engage collaboratively with government stakeholders, data owners, and analysts to effectively translate functional requirements into scalable, robust BI deliverables.
  • Prepare and maintain comprehensive technical documentation, including architecture diagrams, data lineage documentation, Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), and configuration guides to support continuity and audit readiness

Preferred Qualifications
  • Knowledge of federal data protection standards and working within a regulated government or enterprise environment.

Education : Bachelors in a Technical Discipline - Computer Science, Mathematics, or Data Science

Credentials : Microsoft Power BI Analyst certification or related Azure Data certifications

Years of Experience : 9+ years of experience or more
