Business Analyst (BA) Number of Roles:
The Business Analyst (BA) will be the operational bridge between business stakeholders and the Data Engineering team, with a strong focus on intake management, requirements definition, and stakeholder communication. This is a process-driven, people-oriented role that will also document knowledge and contribute to proactive improvements in intake, portfolio management, and communications.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage intake of all incoming data engineering requests, ensuring clear requirements gathering through direct stakeholder engagement and thorough documentation.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for business partners submitting data requests, maintaining transparency on status, timelines, and prioritization.
- Facilitate triage sessions, coordinate assignment of requests based on business urgency and team capacity, and prepare handoffs between the augmented team and core Data Engineering team as needed.
- Work closely with engineers and technical leads to refine ambiguous requests into actionable requirements, ensuring mutual understanding of scope and success criteria.
- Track operational metrics (SLOs, KPIs, backlog, and resolution times), identify bottlenecks or recurring challenges, and recommend improvements to intake and triage processes.
- Develop and maintain a comprehensive knowledge base, including solutions, FAQs, and documentation of common/support processes.
- Monitor stakeholder satisfaction (surveys, feedback loops) and proactively communicate improvement plans or escalations.
- Assist leaders in operational reporting, portfolio management, and continuous process optimization with an eye toward future automation and further integration with Project Management/Business Analysis functions.
Key Qualifications:
- Proven experience in business analysis, intake management, or technical stakeholder-facing roles.
- Strong organizational skills: able to manage multiple concurrent requests, coordinate meetings, and document business requirements clearly.
- Excellent interpersonal communication: capable of building trust with both business stakeholders and engineering teams.
- Analytical mindset, able to identify patterns in requests and suggest process or technical improvements.
- Working familiarity with ticketing/project management tools (e.g., Jira), documentation platforms, and basic data concepts.
- Prior experience in a data or analytics-driven environment is strongly preferred.
- Adaptable to evolving team structures; interest in long-term growth into Project Management or Operations roles a plus.
