Job Title: Facilities Project Manager Data Center Migration

Job Summary:
We are seeking an experienced Facilities Project Manager to lead a Data Center Migration project. This contract-based, remote role requires strong hands-on experience in physical data center infrastructure, including power systems, backup infrastructure, and hardware lifecycle management. The ideal candidate will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of the transition, from rack management to vendor coordination, ensuring minimal disruption and full compliance with data center best practices.
Key Responsibilities:
Lead the end-to-end project management of physical data center data center efforts.
Oversee facilities infrastructure, including power distribution, UPS systems, and backup solutions.
Manage rack planning, including server and tape library setup, removal, and reinstallation.
Coordinate hardware decommissioning and recommissioning with internal teams and vendors.
Ensure timely delivery and proper setup of equipment, maintaining high standards for documentation and execution.
Maintain accurate asset tracking, inventory control, and labeling of all physical components.
Facilitate cross-functional coordination between infrastructure, network, facilities, and operations teams.
Develop and maintain comprehensive project documentation, including schedules, change requests, daily updates, and risk assessments.
Drive the project to meet defined budgets, scope, and timelines, while ensuring compliance with all relevant standards and policies.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
5+ years of experience managing data center infrastructure or migration projects.
Strong background in facilities management, including racks, servers, power systems, and backup infrastructure.
Hands-on experience with tape library racks, IT equipment lifecycle, and decommissioning/recommissioning procedures.
Demonstrated success in vendor management and working across multi-disciplinary teams.
Exceptional organizational and communication skills; proven ability to manage remote stakeholders effectively.
Proficiency with project management tools such as Microsoft Project, Jira, Excel, or Smartsheet.
In-depth understanding of data center standards, compliance, and best practices.
PMP certification or equivalent strongly preferred.
