Job Summary

We're looking for a highly skilled and experienced Senior Systems Engineer to join our dynamic IT team. The ideal candidate will be a key player in designing, implementing, and maintaining our critical IT infrastructure, ensuring its reliability, security, and scalability. This role requires a blend of hands-on technical expertise, a strategic mindset, and a proactive approach to problem-solving.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design, deploy, and manage core infrastructure in a hybrid cloud environment, with a strong focus on AWS.
  • Administer and maintain Windows Server operating systems, including Patching, Group Policy, and accreditation.
  • Manage and support our CI/CD pipelines and version control system using GitLab.
  • Act as a point of escalation for complex technical issues, providing support and guidance to junior team members.
  • Monitor system performance and troubleshoot issues to ensure high availability and optimal performance.
  • Manage and resolve technical issues reported through Service+ trouble ticket management system, ensuring timely and effective resolution.
  • Develop and maintain documentation for systems, processes, and procedures.
  • Provide after-hours support as needed.

Required Skills and Experience
  • 5+ years of experience in a Systems Engineer or similar role.
  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, Information Technology, or a related field.
  • CompTIA Security+ certification.
  • Active TS/SCI security clearance.
  • Extensive hands-on experience with AWS services, including EC2, S3, RDS, and IAM.
  • Strong proficiency in Windows Server administration (2016, 2019, or newer).
  • Demonstrated experience with GitLab for version control and CI/CD pipeline management.
  • Proven ability to manage a high volume of technical issues using a trouble ticket management system (e.g., Jira, ServiceNow, etc.).
  • Solid understanding of networking concepts (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, firewalls, etc.).
  • Experience with scripting languages (e.g., PowerShell, Python).
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

Desired Skills
  • Experience with OpenShift or other container orchestration platforms (e.g., Kubernetes).
  • Knowledge of the SAFe Agile framework.
  • Experience with Service+
  • AWS certification (e.g., AWS Certified Solutions Architect, Cloud Practioner).
  • Experience with other cloud platforms (Azure, Google Cloud).
  • Knowledge of virtualization technologies (VMware, Hyper-V).

Education: Bachelor's degree in Information Technology or related technical degree required and
5+ years' experience with system administration, server patching and related duties
