Job Title: Linux/Oracle Engineer

Location: Onsite in Reno, NV (Local candidates only)
Employment Type: C2C Contract 6 Months (Possible extension or FTE conversion)
Pay Rate: $50/hour on C2C

About the Role:
World Wide Technology (WWT), supporting Berkshire Hathaway Energy Co., is seeking a skilled Linux/Oracle Engineer to assist with a critical Oracle NMS Project phase. The ideal candidate will be a hands-on expert in Linux systems and Oracle server environments, capable of deploying and configuring physical servers in an enterprise environment. This is an onsite role in Reno, Nevada, with potential for remote flexibility after the initial setup phase.
Key Responsibilities:
Coordinate with internal teams for server placement, power, and network cabling requirements
Unbox, rack, and power on Oracle Linux servers
Install and configure Oracle Linux (Red Hat flavor preferred)
Configure OS settings and manage package installations to meet BHE requirements
Create user accounts and deliver ready servers to the Oracle application team
Conduct basic system troubleshooting and integrate servers into Active Directory
Maintain comprehensive documentation of configurations and procedures
Collaborate closely with BHE personnel and existing Linux team members
Required Qualifications:
5+ years of experience with Linux (Red Hat/Oracle Linux) environments
Hands-on experience working with Oracle applications on Linux platforms
Experience in physical server setup: racking, partitioning, user management
Familiarity with Oracle DB and related products (DBA background helpful but not required)
Ability to perform system-level troubleshooting and network/service checks
Strong communication and documentation skills
Must be local to Reno, NV, and able to work onsite as needed
Preferred Skills:
Experience integrating Linux systems with Active Directory
Familiarity with CarbonBlack, Tripwire, or similar security/monitoring tools
Prior experience in a similar Oracle infrastructure deployment environment
Experience collaborating within a mid-sized technical team (7+ members)
Team & Work Environment:
Join a focused team of seven IT professionals supporting BHE s Oracle NMS Project. You will work alongside one other dedicated Linux resource, playing a key role in standing up infrastructure critical to the project s success.
