Location: Juno Beach, FL (Remote 50% Travel Required)
Experience: 12+ Years
Rate: $60 $65 per hour on C2C

Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced SCADA Application Engineer to support the integration, programming, commissioning, and testing of power plant SCADA systems and RTUs. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in automation systems, renewable energy controls, and utility integration, with hands-on expertise in commissioning and SCADA configuration.

This is a non-managerial position that requires close collaboration with internal teams, vendors, and EPCs to ensure timely delivery of high-quality SCADA and control systems.

Key Responsibilities

* Design, integrate, program, commission, and test power plant controllers and SCADA systems for Photovoltaic (PV) and Energy Storage Systems (ESS).
* Integrate renewable power plants into SCADA to manage power generation and grid connection.
* Work with project requirements and specifications to ensure system compliance and functionality.
* Review and provide feedback on SCADA engineering designs.
* Collaborate with internal teams and sub-suppliers to define project priorities, schedules, and work plans.
* Coordinate and manage vendors to meet project deliverables.
* Perform system troubleshooting for AC/DC circuits, utility meters, protection relays, and communication equipment.
* Maintain accurate project documentation, including daily, weekly, and monthly progress reports.
* Ensure all work adheres to cyber security, networking, and industry compliance standards.

Required Skills & Qualifications

* Education: Bachelor s degree (or equivalent) in Engineering, Automation Systems, or related field in SCADA systems integration, programming, and commissioning.
* Strong knowledge of:

* SCADA architectures and PLC programming.
* Ignition, OPC protocols, SCADA historians.
* Automation protocols (Modbus, DNP3, CAN, OPC, EtherNet/IP, etc.).
* RTU-to-RTU interfaces and programming.
* Electrical and communication plan sets.
* AC/DC circuits, 0 10V and 4 20mA loops.
* Utility meters, substation RTAC, and protection relays.
* Managed switches (Hirschmann, MOXA, Cisco, etc.).
* Networking, firewalls, and cyber security principles.
* Renewable SCADA and control systems.
* Proven ability to read and interpret SCADA and communication schematics/drawings.
* Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
* Project management experience managing multiple consultants, vendors, and EPCs.

Preferred Qualifications

* Experience in renewable energy SCADA systems.
* Knowledge of energy storage and utility-scale PV plant controls.
* Previous work in power plant SCADA integration and commissioning.

Physical & Work Environment Requirements

* Ability to lift up to 20 pounds regularly.
* Standing for extended periods when on-site.
* Prolonged computer work in an office setting.
* Ability to bend, stoop, and twist when handling equipment.
* Ability to travel up to 50% of the time between work locations and project sites.
