Position : Platform Engineer Linux/Unix Expert III | AIX to Linux & WAS to JBoss Migration

Location : REMOTE

Duration : Fulltime

We re looking for a skilled Application Modernization Engineer to lead the migration of legacy applications from AIX to Linux and transition middleware from WebSphere Application Server (WAS) to JBoss Web Server (JWS).
This role is central to the bank s infrastructure modernization efforts, directly influencing system performance, scalability, and long-term maintainability.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the migration of applications from AIX to Linux environments.
  • Drive the transition of middleware from WebSphere Application Server to JBoss Web Server.
  • Analyze existing configurations, dependencies, and performance bottlenecks.
  • Refactor and translate configuration files, scripts, and deployment artifacts.
  • Collaborate with development, infrastructure, and security teams to ensure smooth migration.
  • Perform regression and load testing, as well as post-migration validation.
  • Conduct performance tuning and monitoring for optimized operation.
  • Maintain thorough documentation, including migration runbooks and handover materials.
  • Ensure compliance with security, audit, and operational standards.

Qualifications

  • 5+ years of hands-on experience in system administration and application server management.
  • Proven expertise in AIX-to-Linux and WAS-to-JWS migration projects.
  • Strong understanding of enterprise middleware and Java-based architectures.
  • Excellent problem-solving, documentation, and communication skills.
  • Bachelor s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field (or equivalent experience).
