Job Description:

At Parsons, we deliver innovative solutions to make the world safer, smarter, and more connected. We are looking for a mission-focused Data Scientist to develop AI-driven data processing tools that empower our government clients with actionable intelligence from complex, high-volume datasets. This role is central to our efforts in national security, defense, and critical infrastructure-supporting real-world operations through cutting-edge data science and artificial intelligence. Imagine Next with Parsons!

What You'll Be Doing:
  • Design and build scalable solutions for extracting key data elements from diverse sources including structured formats (databases, logs) and unstructured data (PDFs, reports, sensor feeds, communications).
  • Leverage Large Language Models (LLMs) and natural language processing (NLP) techniques to develop intelligent document understanding and data extraction pipelines.
  • Apply AI to solve real-world mission problems in domains such as cybersecurity, ISR (intelligence, surveillance, reconnaissance), infrastructure monitoring, and beyond.
  • Collaborate with engineers, analysts, and mission stakeholders to ensure AI solutions are secure, interpretable, and operationally effective.
  • Prototype and productize solutions using secure, scalable cloud platforms (AWS GovCloud, Azure Government, etc.).
  • Stay on top of developments in generative AI, transformers, vector search, and retrieval-augmented generation (RAG), and apply them to mission needs.

What Required Skills You'll Bring:
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Data Science, AI/ML, or a related technical field.
  • 3+ years of experience in data science or machine learning with a focus on unstructured data processing and AI-based extraction solutions.
  • Proficiency in Python and ML libraries (e.g., scikit-learn, PyTorch, spaCy, Hugging Face Transformers).
  • Hands-on experience with LLMs (e.g., GPT, BERT, Claude) and prompt engineering or fine-tuning approaches.
  • Strong understanding of NLP techniques including named entity recognition (NER), classification, summarization, etc.
  • Familiarity with secure environments, data protection, and compliance considerations.
  • Ability to obtain US government issued security clearance.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Active TS/SCI with Polygraph clearance.
  • Experience working with DoD, DHS, or IC datasets and mission environments.
  • Exposure to tools such as Apache NiFi, Elasticsearch, or vector databases (FAISS, Pinecone).
  • Understanding of MLOps, CI/CD for ML, and deploying models in real-world systems.

Minimum Clearance Required to Start:
