Job Title: MySQL Database Administrator
Location: Pittsburgh, PA or Cleveland, OH
Pay Range: $65/hr – $71/hr
Employment Type: 6 month contract to hire opportunity

About the Role:
We’re looking for an experienced MySQL Database Administrator to join a dynamic infrastructure support team within a leading financial institution. This role is ideal for someone with deep MySQL expertise, strong automation skills, and a passion for optimizing database performance across enterprise environments.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Administer MySQL databases (versions 8.0.x, 8.4.x; migrating to 8.0.42 and 8.4.5)
  • Implement and manage InnoDB clustering across multiple data centers
  • Troubleshoot performance issues and bottlenecks
  • Review database design changes and stress testing results
  • Collaborate with IT teams, vendors, and cross-functional project groups
  • Monitor, maintain, and back up databases
  • Ensure database security compliance with internal policies
  • Automate routine tasks and streamline database processes
  • Mentor and support junior team members

Required Skills & Experience:

  • 6+ years of MySQL database administration experience
  • Expertise in MySQL storage engines and 8.x features
  • Experience with automated failover solutions and TDE (Transparent Data Encryption)
  • Familiarity with MySQL best practices and client-server communication (ODBC/JDBC)
  • Proficiency in shell and SQL scripting for automation
  • Experience with automated installation and patching (preferred)

Education & Certifications:
