Exciting Opportunity for a Strategic Project Manager in Solar-Energy and Agriculture Innovation.

This 2+ year contract position is primarily remote with approximately 10% travel within upstate NY for project meetings, stakeholder engagement and site visits (1-2 days/month), so individuals located in or NYS adjacent are preferred.

Tech Valley Talent (TVT) is seeking a diligent and dynamic Project Manager to lead impactful initiatives at the intersection of solar energy and agriculture. This long-term role offers the chance to influence sustainable energy practices, support policy development, and collaborate with diverse stakeholders in a rapidly evolving sector. Based in Albany, NY, with remote flexibility, this position is ideal for a professional passionate about advancing renewable energy solutions and agricultural sustainability.

In this key role, you will oversee the management of client's Agrivoltaics research portfolio, guiding multi-year projects that explore dual-use solar-energy and agricultural applications. You will serve as a contract manager, review deliverables, coordinate with research and external partners, and support site visits. You will also facilitate engagement with the NYS Agricultural Technical Working Group, develop strategies to communicate scientific insights to policymakers and stakeholders, and represent client in industry meetings and conferences.

Daily responsibilities include managing project timelines and budgets, reviewing contractor deliverables and invoices, coordinating with research partners, and tracking project metrics. You will engage with agricultural communities, solar developers, government agencies, and research institutions to foster collaboration, identify policy opportunities, and ensure project objectives are met with precision and professionalism. Your expertise will empower evidence-based decision-making and help shape innovative solar-agricultural programs aligned with state objectives.

Required Skills:
  • Bachelor's degree in agricultural-related fields, environmental science, biological or physical sciences, engineering, or a related discipline.
  • Requires a working knowledge of New York State agricultural policies, practices and key

    stakeholders, and familiarity with issues and policies associated with implementation of New York State's Climate Law
  • Proven contract management experience, especially in solar or agricultural projects.
  • Strong problem-solving, resourcefulness, and adaptability skills.
  • Ability to interpret data, formulate strategies, and design pragmatic solutions.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to convey complex scientific information effectively.
  • Stakeholder engagement, public speaking, meeting management, and collaboration expertise.
  • Demonstrated interpersonal skills and ability to manage multiple activities simultaneously.

Nice to Have Skills:

  • Experience with agricultural-environmental or energy-related environmental issues.
  • Familiarity with policy development within the renewable energy or agricultural sectors.
  • Knowledge of project tracking and reporting tools.

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field; Master's or higher preferred (Advanced degree and experience with the agricultural community in New York State preferred.)
  • Several years of experience in project management, stakeholder engagement, or policy-related roles in solar, energy, or agriculture sectors.

Other Requirements:

  • Occasional site visits may be required.
  • Ability to attend and represent client at meetings and conferences.
  • A proactive approach to identifying collaboration opportunities and leveraging resources.
  • Experience with Salesforce, Microsoft Teams, Microsoft Outlook, Asana, NEIS
