Description:
Job Title: Specialty Software Engineer (Contingent Resource)

Location: Hybrid (2 days in-office, 3 days remote) - Charlotte, NC

Job Description:

As a Specialty Software Engineer, you will:
  • Consult on complex initiatives with broad impact and large-scale planning.
  • Review and analyze multifaceted, large-scale, or long-term challenges requiring in-depth evaluation of multiple factors, including intangibles or unprecedented elements.
  • Contribute to resolving complex situations by understanding functions, policies, procedures, and compliance requirements.
  • Strategically collaborate and consult with client personnel.

Required Qualifications:
  • 5+ years of experience in Specialty Software Engineering, or equivalent experience through work, consulting, training, military service, or education.

Skill Assessment:

Goal: Build a Java application that displays current temperatures for multiple US cities in a live demo. The app should allow users to select multiple cities and view current temperatures.

Requirements:
  1. Use Angular 9+ for the front end and a Java middle layer to consume data from the API.
  2. Utilize a public API (e.g., Open Meteo) to retrieve temperature data.
  3. Allow users to select multiple US cities.
  4. Display the temperature for each selected city.

Project Scope:

Support the further development of an internal content management system integrated with Documentum.

Top Skills:
  1. Strong development skills in Java, with system design and troubleshooting capabilities using J2EE, Spring Boot, and Microservices.
  2. Experience with Agile and SDLC methodologies to create sizing and work estimates.

Software Experience:
  • J2EE application model
  • Spring Boot framework
  • Microservices architecture
  • CI/CD (Continuous Integration/Continuous Deployment)
  • Jenkins (code build tool)

Additional Experience:
  • Full Software Development Life Cycle using Agile methodologies.
  • Cloud Technologies (PCF/Azure) - advantageous but not required.
  • Finance and Content Management - helpful but not required.
