TalentFish is casting a line for a Quality Assurance Automation Engineer. This is a Direct Hire role open to candidates residing near Washington DC or New York City metropolitan areas.

The QA Automation Engineer will lead in the development of test approaches, estimates, and plans for complex integrated systems and ensure that execution aligns with business needs, while in collaboration with cross-functional teams.

What You Bring to the Role

  • 3+ years of QA automation experience supporting large, critical business applications.
  • 5+ years of QA experience with test and issue management tools (e.g., JIRA, Azure DevOps).
  • Experience with manual and automated testing procedures and tools.
  • Experience in both Agile and Waterfall development environments.
  • Strong experience with QA test management tools.
  • Knowledge of web application architecture (web server, client/server communication, databases, proxy, etc.).
  • Experience automating desktop/client applications (preferred).
  • Skilled in SQL queries involving multiple tables, join statements, and stored procedures.
  • Familiarity with source code management tools.
  • Experience with JSON, HTML, CSS, and API testing methods (POST, PUT, GET, DELETE).
  • Understanding of Object Oriented Programming (OOP) concepts and Behavior Driven Development (BDD) methods.
  • Experience with Selenium and Page Object Model for automated scripts.
  • Programming or scripting experience in C# or Java (both a PLUS).
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical abilities.
  • Highly effective in collaborative team environments.

What You'll Do

  • Confirm high standards of software system performance and operational coherence.
  • Provide input on functional requirements and advise on design and configuration of applications.
  • Ensure delivery of testable and traceable requirements using appropriate black box testing techniques.
  • Lead user story and test case development and execution.
  • Design, develop, document, and maintain test artifacts for functional, integration, system, and acceptance testing (UAT).
  • Create test plans including risk mitigation strategies.
  • Prepare and manage test data and environments for execution.
  • Create and execute automated tests and generate status reports.
  • Analyze test results to identify defects and configuration issues.
  • Perform defect triage and collaborate with development teams on issue resolution.
  • Publish and communicate test metrics that support decision-making on quality.
  • Make recommendations on delivery quality and influence implementation decisions.
  • Coordinate with on-site, off-site, and off-shore teams.

Compensation and Employment

This role requires authorization to work in the U.S. without current or future visa sponsorship.

The expected salary range for this position is $100,000 - $125,000 per year, depending on experience and qualifications. This role also qualifies for full comprehensive employee benefits such as health insurance, 401(k), and paid time off. TalentFish is committed to pay transparency and equal opportunity.
